I bought this a year ago and starting the second season with it and it's just like new. I do take it down and store it in the winter once it starts cooling off. The trick is to purchase one that is 3-4 feet less than the area size. So my back patio is a 16x20 so the 12x16 fits perfect.Putting an angle on it is great for aesthetics but won't do anything about water pooling in the center during a rain. Another review mentioned it stretching after the initial rain, and that's true but once you do your final adjustment, you're good for the season. I bought all the hardware from Home Depot. I mounted u-bolts on the eaves of the house and posts in the yard. For each corner use a carabiner, 3 foot chain, and a turnbuckle. Open the turn buckle all the way, mount it on the end of the chain closest to the sunsail. Pull the chain as tight as you can get by hand and then turn the turnbuckle so it closes.This will bring it nice and taut. The material does stretch during a rain, but once the material dries it will become tight again. Hope you guys enjoy yours as much as I do mine! ... show more

Held up for 4 years and did the trick. Still using it but looking for waterproof ones now. Slight rust in d rings and small holes start to form. These are stretched tight and left up through all summer storms.

You will be amazed at the difference that these shade sails make. I have 3 sails in various parts of my backyard and would recommend it for an attractive solution vs. a pergola, etc. It took me a couple of attempts to get the correct size. I called Sunshades Depot and they were helpful. Measure the area that you want to cover and then subtract 1.5 to 2 feet off of the length. I use the structure eyebolts and turnbuckles to get the sail tight with no wrinkles. I will add pictures. ... show more

We got it up and used bungee cords to attach it. The bungies let the wind out so it didn’t get ripped to shreds. The bungies are an easy replacement when they finally give out after a season or so. Bungies also make it easy to move/adjust when the sun changes position in the sky.

I ordered 5 of these sun shades and was appauled at every single one. They all had horrible defects in the fabric where it appeared as if they had torn and been sewn closed or the needle jammed while weaving the material. Additionally half we're sewn as pictured in the description with large D rings and the other half were sewn differently with no reinforcement and small D rings even though all the one I ordered were exactly the same size and color so I have no idea why they were different to the point of appearing to be made by an entirely different manufacturer. ... show more

I have no shade. And my Koi pond was in full sun. Last summer in July it hit 90° several days in a row. My pond water got dangerous warm. And I lost a Koi. Purchase this sun sail a few days later and now my pond has shade . The water stays nice a cool for the Koi. It prevents algae from growing and it adds to the ponds appearance. Especially at night when the motion solar lights shine up on the sail. The durability of this sail is excellent. Its held up in some pretty good winds. This is a quality shade, made of great heavy duty material! I went through 3 $200 canopy pop up tents before I bought this $75 shade, and it had outlasted 50mph winds! Great uv/heat protection( I live in Vegas) You will need d rings and tensioner hooks to tighten.. I used airplane cable around the tree, concrete screws for brick wall.. and found the floor divider/ stud on the house with longer screws.. The wind will destroy canopies.. this shade is legit! ... show more

We bought it to shade the east side of the house as the bedrooms get super warm in the morning and stay that way all day. We have noticed a reduction of heat in the bedrooms so it is working! It is not water proof, it is designed to let water through and that is a great feature; water does not gather on the surface causing puddles above you! Of course, sitting on the swing in a rain shower is not a dry experience. It does allow plenty of light through to the windows while fulfilling its purpose very nicely. ... show more
