I purchased the 4000lb model with synthetic rope. It was “used” (open box but not previously installed) for $200. I decided on a super winch mainly because of the good reviews. I didn’t want to get a no-name brand and risk an issue when I actually needed it. This is mounted on a KFI winch mount and installed in a 2021 Yamaha Kodiak 700. I am currently doing the install now. There are a few things I don’t like so far. The biggest issue I have is with the circuit breaker. There is no insulation on the buss bars. This is a fire hazard. The directions state to wrap the entire thing in electrical tape, but that is a hack way of doing the install. It’s putting a bandaid on superwinch’s crappy design. There should be something to make sure it is isolated from short circuit. I was going to encapsulate the breaker assy in stycast 2651, but I decided to buy a resettable breaker that is in a sealed housing. The next issue I have is with the mounting bolts. The bolts that mount the winch to the mount are 30mm long. The depth of the hole in the winch is 21mm, the plate is 4mm thick. That leaves an excess of 5mm. The thickness of a lock washer and flat washer stacked is 3.78mm. That is still an excess of over 1mm (directions do not say to use both washers). If you go to tighten the bolts and don’t realize you’re bottomed on the inside of the winch housing, you risk cracking the metal base. Rather than stack washers, I will grind the threads and chase the threads with a die. The last thing I didn’t like is the clutch knob being plastic. That’s not really a big deal, but it’s just cheap. The relay is fairly large. The mounting bracket is too short to make the span on my winch plate. I had to make a mounting plate that could hold the relay and mount to my winch plate. Overall it is a decent kit. Probably on par with a harbor freight winch. I will update this review after the install is complete. ... show more

  • Cable jumps spool at mild angle pull
Style: 1140220
The gap between the lip of the spool & the motor housing looks small but it's wide enough for the cable to get in. Pulling at even a mild angle causes the cable to pile up at edge of the spool until it jumps the lip and wraps around the shaft. Disassembly may be required to fix such a jam. ***Warning*** Only remove the hex screws on the motor side of the spool. I learned the hard way that the other side disassembles the gearbox. Huge headache! ... show more

  • Fairlead doesn’t line up with a commander utv
Style: 1140220
I like superwinch and get they can’t make an exact fit but the fairlead doesn’t fit the commander winch mount so I had to modify the mount plus use the winch mount. It also doesn’t fit the plastic bumper cover so I modified that as well. So if you want a perfect fit you’ll need to purchase a different brand winch for 2011-2019 can am commander. I made it work. ... show more

  • Did not work properly out of the box.
Style: 1140230
I have had super good luck with superwenches in the past. I installed my winch to my SxS on Tuesday 4-21-20 and as I went to wind up my rope onto my winch it would only run for maybe 30 seconds at a time, super slow, and the motor was HOT as well as getting a horrible grinding sound from the winch motor...I have contacted seller to get it swapped for a new one. Once this happens I will update and change my review but for the moment I’m going to leave a bad review on this purchase as it was faulty out of the box. But I am more than reasonable and will change it once this issue has been resolved. Thanks. Update: originally rated at 1 star. Now changing to 4 star. My new winch shipped to me as soon as I shipped the old one back. New one functions perfectly and already has a successful recovery under its belt. Pulls my 2019 Yamaha wolverine x4 SxS out of sticky nude without hesitation. ... show more

  • Good Winch - Not so good rope.
Style: 1140230
A good winch but the synthetic rope leaves a lot to be desired. Already fraying with very little use on it.

  • Tough little winch

I’ve worn out/broken three lines so far but the winch is still going strong.

  • Good Product - Don't rely on knowlegable support from Manufacturer to answer questions.
Style: 1140230
Installed on a 2019 Honda Pioneer 700. Positive lead from the motor was touching frame causing short in system. Called support and talked them thru my issue. I asked if I could remove the Red(Positive) Nylon washer and cut the bolt to make clearance. Support guy said go ahead. This caused a short due to positive lead touching the winch motor.Reinstalled the Red nylon washer and short was resolved. Found talking to support was like talking to a wall. Zero knowledge. No negative issueswith the winch itself. Performs very well. ... show more

  • Would buy again
Style: 1140220
Was a pain to install only because of where it goes on a 2021 Polaris Rzr XP4 Turbo. Wiring diagram could be better. Diagram shows lines crossing one another which is confusing. YouTube has some good videos that clear things up.
