  • Winch line change
Have had this winch for 7yrs and it has worked great when needed. The winch line is needing changed. Is it possible to change on the cable for a synthetic winch rope?

  • Nice
I really liked the price and how this kit was complete. The install on my 2002 Sportsman 500 was super simple. Thw winch works flawlessly. I ranked this 4 stars only because I don't believe that the instructions would be adequate for someone that doesn't have a mechanical background to decipher the poor wiring diagram... but I've seen worse. ... show more

  • ATV whinch
Fine product, does everything I need

  • Nice package - comes with everything you need. I mounted it on a 2015 Polaris 570 Sportsman
It's a good looking winch that is more than powerful enough for ATV duties. Straightforward enough to install, and the instructions were decent enough. I haven't had it installed for any length of time so only function tested it, but it operates smooth and is very quiet for a winch. A couple of things to note: 1) Every mount for the Polaris Sportsman necessitates that you mount the winch upside down, and so the cable spools from the top and not the bottom. I called Superwinch and queried the Tech Support - they said "no issue", even though their instructions state that the cable must spool from the bottom or the warranty is void. 2) The circuit breakers are basically a large, naked 12v buss bar - not good. I solved the issue by enclosing the circuit breaker assembly in a plastic junction box. I filled it with silicone caulking, installed a cover, and then zip-tied it to the frame. All good - see pics. ... show more

  • Strong & Good design winch
Strong & Good design winch. With a sealed motor I can trust that this will work when I need it. I would of gave 5 stars, but the only thing about this winch is that the "circuit breaker" (included with the winch) was not sealed or insolated. I had to get "creative" and use heat shrink tubes and a 1-5/8 rubber hose to protect it from shorting out on the ATV's frame. Also, this winch does come with #6 ga. wiring (from solenoid to battery) which was not in the description when I ordered it. I have a 2008 Honda TRX500FM ATV and this winch fits very nicely. I did not "install" the adapter plug (used for the plug in remote) because no mount(s) came with it and did not want to cut out a place in the plastic for it. The bottom of the winch has 4 molded in nuts (instead of threading the housing) which made a better bolting in which you don't have to worry about "stripping the treads". Other winches does, so if you "cross tread it" your winch is worthless since the mounting must be secure to work. Should you intend to install this yourself, you are going to need tools and maybe a welder (welder to make mount for winch stronger) and some engineering skill to make the installation good. Most problems with a "winch that Fails" are due to improper installs. I did purchase the "Super Winch 2202878 Winch mount" but found that the winch sits too low on the mount causing the cable to drag on the raised area (bottom of the horse shoe) where the Fairlead mounts. This is an engineering problem that Super Winch needs to correct. I made (4) 5/8" mount risers so the cable doesn't "drag" on the winch mount. I did look for a different mount and did find a "KFI mount" that made the Fairlead Mount with an undercut so the cable doesn't "rub", but didn't like the 2 "U" bolts that hold the front of the mount to the frame very securely. The super Winch mount has 2 "U" metal straps that goes around the ATV's frame in which it looks to be much stronger than the KFI's mount. When you are looking for a winch and mount for your ATV, keep in mind that you will need something very dependable and will work / perform when you need it. Super Winch (and Warn) are very good systems. ... show more

  • Great Amazon service, problems with Superwinch
This application is for a 2004 Artic Cat TRV 500. Bought the Superwinch LT 3000 based on price, reviews, and capability. Amazon shipped exactly as promised. However, winch arrived without the solenoid. Called Amazon, since they couldn't just supply the solenoid, they shipped a new winch, had me pull the solenoid and return the rest of the winch kit. Kudos to Amazon. Supplied instructions from Superwinch are HORRIBLE and the supplied universal mount from Superwinch didn't fit so more delay while I ordered a winch mounting plate from Artic Cat. Had problems finding a place to mount the solenoid (not Superwinch's problem), finally cut a hole in the tool kit area under passenger seat which placed solenoid close to battery as instructed. Superwinch supplied cables barely long enough to reach solenoid, but it worked after rerouting cables a couple of times. Did I mention that the supplied instructions are HORRIBLE. Still haven't found a key switched hot lead for the winch switch, but did splice into a fulltime hot lead to see if winch worked. Ran a few feet of cable out with free spool selected on winch. Hit 'in' on the handlebar switch. CLICK, Hum from solenoid. Nothing from winch. Hit out and the winch started turning. Troubleshooting time. Did I mention the supplied instructions from Superwinch are HORRIBLE included the almost indecipherable wiring diagram? Hooked up supplied remote switch, got same results. So, probably not the switch. Reversed polarity at the solenoid. Now the 'in' worked while the 'out' gave me click hum. So, it's not the winch. Must be the solenoid. Wait the weekend, called Superwinch tech support. Fairly easy to get to the right place, on hold about 7 minutes, tech guy comes on and says 'go switch the black leads on the solenoid. Required some more cable rerouting, complied with directions, and IT WORKS! Did I mention the supplied instructions are HORRIBLE!? A readable wiring diagram would have made this process much easier, but at least I got Tech Support on the phone without much difficulty. Haven't used the winch on the trail, so don't know how it will perform under load, but initial impression is good winch, great price. ... show more
