Good knives for the value but not what I was expecting from Sunnecko. I have other knives from Sunnecko and they have a polished surface on the steel and I can see the pattern from the layer of Damascus steel. I jumped the gun when I saw these assuming this set would be a match. The description clearly says they are Stainless steel which I found out when I eagerly opened the box to realize. This set is not the 72 layer Damascus steel that I am accustomed to with this brand. The still very nice knives that I give 5 stars for the quality within the the price point offered for this set. They have a machined surface with the pattern etched on them to give the look of Damascus hammer forged steel. The are solid feeling knives the steel goes from end to end continuously so you don't have worry the the blade will fall out of the handle. The Pakkawood handle are smooth and comfortable in my hand. The knife feels well balanced when holding it. There is no rivets holding the wood to the knives so I cannot speak to how well the handles will stay on with age and use. Best to keep the out of the automatic dishwasher and had wash and dry only. This set would be an upgrade to knives in most peoples kitchens but for a knife nerd chef Sunnecko has a better selection to offer as well. ... show more

This is a gorgeous set of knives for the price, but I would only call them mid-quality, and not on the level of Wusthoff or other high-quality German brands. The color of the wood on the handles is gorgeous, but I notice there are no rivets holding the handle to the tang, so I fear eventually things might come loose (hard to say what the construction inside is). The pattern on the blades looks like Damascus, but it's just stainless steel, which is nice, but not the same, so I'm not confident they will hold their edge. They do feel good in your hand, and they look impressive without breaking the bank. If you don't want to be buying a new set every few years tho, I would say spring for a better quality knife and buy one knife at a time if you must. I will update when I find out how quickly they lose their edge. ... show more

This 5 knife set is well packaged in a nice box set. The Damascus steel appearance and the lovely, grained wood handles make for a striking look. There seem to be several reviews that are disappointed that they are not real Damascus blades, but truth be told, you cannot get five real Damascus steel knives for only 110 bucks. The handle of the paring knife that came with my set does match the other knives (pic) and sticks out like a sore thumb in my knife block (pic). The Chef and the Santoku knives are large knives and my knife block has only one large slot for the Chef knife and the paring knife slot was just a bit too small to let the knife all the way in (pics). I used a blade on my Milwaukee Hackzall to make one of the other slots wider and also the paring knife slot (pic). Now all five knives fit easily into the block (pic). I store my knives blade up so that the blade does not slide against the wood every time I move the knife in and out of the block. The knives are very sharp and easily cut anything they are used on, but I expect this from brand new knives. The description says they are sharpened to 12-15 degrees so I will have to be careful when cutting around bone or frozen meat. A narrower edge is easier to damage and will probably take more maintenance to keep it that sharp. So far I am liking this set and continued use will see how well they hold up. I still wish they looked like they belong to the same set and that’s where they lost a star. ... show more

The Sunnecko Kitchen Knife Set is a bargain with a set of three knives (chef's knife, butcher style, and pairing knife). They arrived in a box, so these could easily be gifted out, and each knife was well protected. Each knife arrived very sharp, the pairing knife I've used frequently for a variety of smaller kitchen tasks, the "butcher" style works amazingly on larger fruits and veggies, and the chef's knife has made food prep a breeze. The handles seem to have a decently balanced weight. They have a nice appearance, and have the Damascus steel look to them. These are handwash only, so that's a factor to consider if you want something that can be ran in a dishwasher. This prevents damage (water) and helps ensure the knife stays in good condition. This would make for an excellent starter set for any home chef. ... show more
