I put a q-tip into the broiler to clean around the top and noticed the tank was a greeny, blacky color. I dropped the q-tip inside. I tipped it up side down and there were a lot of black particles that came out. It's been used. It's not new. When you turn out the light and shine a black light or Lazer light there is a splatter of dots. You can't see them in the light. They can be wiped off with water I just don't know what it is. Kind of disappointed to find out I'm actually leaving a film on my things. ... show more

For the value, I would rate it at decent. Simply because the accessories were exactly what I needed and what I would use regularly. However, the pieces are a bit flimsy. And there’s a constant wait period for the steam to build. I would say every 1-2 minutes of constant steam would then trigger the light (not ready) you can still use it with the light on but the steam pressure decreases noticeably. For what I need it for, it should would. But I would not recommend for heavy duty jobs. ... show more

So far, I exercise proper precautions and am careful, so I have not been burned. It was fast to use when I cleaned a nasty cooktop range with accumulated grease at my rent house. I used the hose and brush attachments.
