  • An excellent All Region and All Zone DVD/Blu Ray Player.
I have had this player for several months and now I don't know how I could live without it. I live in the U.S. and I have found an online video store in the U.K. that carries a huge selection of DVD's, Blu Rays, and collectible Steelbook Blu Rays. Their prices are downright unbelievable. You can get a box set of an entire TV series or even every James Bond movie from Dr. No through Skyfall for a very inexpexpensive price. But you must have a player that will play Region 2 PAL DVDs and Zone B PAL Blu Rays to play everything. This player comes in at a very affordable price and it is very simple to use the remote to change to any DVD Region 1-8 and any Blu Ray Zone A, B, and C, as well as automatically convert PAL to NTSC. Amazon uses a third party source to do the necessary hardware conversion to make the player all-region and all-zone. This company does an excellent job on the hardware conversion and is very quick to answer emails for tech support should you need it. This player literally opens up a whole new world to you because you can find titles all over Europe, Australia, and the Far Eastern countries such as Japan, China, and Hong Kong, that just aren't available in the U.S. I highly recommend this player to anyone who is interested in entering a whole new world of videos. ... show more

  • Fast and Flawless!
Great product. I recently updated Sony firmware for the unit which transferred data via the built in Wi-Fi fast and with no glitches. Conversion of this unit from Bombay Electronics is flawless. And, because the conversion from NTSC to PAL is handled through hardware, not just a software hack, there was no conflict when updating the machine. Very simple to play Region-B Blu-Rays by just pressing a button on the remote before play (just follow the super simple instruction page included with the converted unit). Likewise, DVDs from other regions all load effortlessly. All Blu-Ray discs, regardless of Region, load super fast in this player. I was delighted with the speed which is light-years past my Sony Blu-Ray player from only a few years ago which seemed to take forever to read and begin playing a Blu-Ray disc. This unit is much less than half the size and weight of my older Sony player, but don't worry about the small dimensions; its a high quality machine. As usual, purchase through Amazon brought this to me in record time. ... show more

  • It worked for me as advertised
I haven't purchased any other DVD/Blu Ray players so I have nothing to compare it to. All I know, so far, it works for me. I don't use it often (once a week at this point) and I've owned it for about 6 weeks. The remote works great (meaning no problems) and that makes it easy to use (as it should) ... which is why it gave it 5 stars. As for the picture quality, I gave it 4 stars, but I am not sure if the player has anything to do with that as the DVDs/BluRays and the TV I use I think would be what control the quality of what I see. I am happy with it. ... show more

  • Received 2 units, neither one worked.
We purchased this region free Blu Ray/DVD player to watch DVDs from the UK. The first one received failed to work right out of the box. It would crash while trying to boot (displaying the home screen for only a moment), then restart. This "crash/reboot" cycle repeated without ever stopping. Could not get it to boot far enough to even try to play either blu ray or DVD. We returned the first unit and purchased a second one from the same maker, hoping the first one was a one-off mistake. The second unit also failed right out of the box. It booted to the home screen fine. However, when regardless whether it was displaying the home screen or playing a disk, every 3 to 5 seconds, the video and sound would cut out for a few seconds before coming back. Disks were unwatchable due to the repetitive blackouts. I cannot recommend this product to anyone. The modification the third party is making to these units to make them region free is essentially bricking them. ... show more

  • Works Great So Far!
I've only had this a couple of days so I can't say what it will be long term, but so far it works GREAT and just as advertised. I can absolutely play a region B DVD on it in the US. The only issue was that the way it said to change the region didn't work for me (the player wouldn't turn off using the remote with the region B DVD inserted, but I just got up and turned it off, then turned back on with the remote. It worked fine and it's not THAT big of a deal to have to get up and turn it off ONLY when changing regions on the player.....) The remote works fine after that initial on and off manually. When I first plugged it in it did a new software download, went off without a hitch AND didn't affect my "all region" capability. ... show more

  • Great player for DVDs and Blu-Rays
Easy to set up and easy to use! It’s great having one, slim player for all our DVDs and Blu-Rays. Picture and sound quality are great. The remote is small and familiar to us ( we have a SONY TV). There’s no display on the player but we have a digital clock on the cable box. I’ve also seen some reviewers complain about a lack of a display on DVD progress (how much time left on the show playing), but simply pressing “display” on the remote, shows the progress of the show. ... show more

  • TINY - BUT WORKS GREAT!
My old multi region DVD player died so I needed a replacement. I chose this Sony which is also a multi region blu ray player. It is really tiny but works great. Plays all my UK DVDs without a problem.

  • You get what you pay for?
Bought this instead of a $300-400 blu-ray player. My mistake apparently. Despite being about 12 feet from the wifi unit, this product CONSTANTLY loses the wifi signal, even when a cell phone right next to it still has a full signal. The unit freezes every day while attempt tin stream content or play a blu-ray so that you can't navigate to a different menu. Even trying to eject the disk or attempting to turn the unit off using either the remote or button on the unit itself does not work. It has to be physically unplugged from the power source to turn it off. If you should happen to either accidentally or intentionally go to the unit's home menu while playing a disc, you will have to start the disc over. Even our other, far cheaper, blu-ray only (without wifi) player can return to where you left off on a disc, and will do so even when you play several other discs before returning to play the first one. Lesson learned. ... show more
