DVD, Bluray, Ultra HD -- these plus CDs and home burned discs. -All are part of my library, and so how nice to find a reasonably priced player that seems to handle them all perfectly. The its sized to stack with standard hi-fi and video components , too, is a plus. It does with wireless connection -- which for most of todays systems is redundant -- was for me no problem. Maybe even a plus. Its remote is, as others say, very small. But its coding matcches an older LG remote that I still use on rare occasion. That to a player used solely for foreign coded DVDs. Now that one remote controls either and the rarely used player has its power cut off by an 'Alexa' switch so that it does not try to respond when I am not using it. I purchased the unit, listed a "used but like new", and got a box that quite obviously had never even been opened. I could not be more pleased! ... show more

Picked this up at a bargain during Christmas time. It's a slightly newer model to replace the previous that suffered a severe lightning strike. Some of the DVD players specifically those capable of 4k can get very pricey. This LG has comparable features and great reliability for sometimes a fraction of the cost. I really like Panasonic as well due to their features. Their prices have gone up considerably for the same features as this LG and this model has proven just as reliable. It's very basic but does offer 4k. Plays all DVDs/Blu-Ray/Ultra HD (4k) reliably. The USB feature is great to have for playing media as well. The only draw back is it doesn't seem to remember where it was paused when stopped. Must fast forward or skip to where left off. The remote is very small and compact. Some may not like a small remote but this works fine and is preferred. It has lots of features. One negative in my opinion is when displaying media time or time remaining it will not remain on the screen. it will disappear after a few seconds. It would be nice if it remained as long as preferred. Overall the player is very light and would fit easily on a media stand, attached wall mount shelf. ... show more

I replaced a Samsung 4K UHD player that was much more expensive than the LG UBK80 and was pleased to find that although not as complete in features as the Samsung, had better picture quality for HD and 4K video. The DVD up-scaling was not quite as good as the Samsung but good enough. My Samsung unit is about 6 years old, more people were interested in top notch DVD up-scaling back then. The user interface is stupid easy to configure as the best way to put it...don't feel insulted, just enjoy the simplicity :) Overall i highly recommend this unit to people who want to connect this to their TV / Home Theater system, turn it on, and just watch and hear the wonderful output this unit is capable of. ... show more

    • Stopped working after 13 months! LG would not replace!

I bought this player from the LG store through Amazon, placed it on my entertainment center, used it about 10 times over the next 13 months (I only use it to watch the occasional concert blu ray), then went to use it one evening and it was totally dead. Would not power on using remote or button on the unit. Called LG service line and was told it would be a fee of $130.00 to ship and repair it. I explained to the rep I paid $215 for it, barely used it, and was now expected to pay over 50% of what it cost just to get it repaired? I'm sorry, but if they won't stand behind their products after only 13 months and only 10 uses, then where's their incentive to make a quality product? All this experience has done is ensure that I will NOT buy and LG product ever again. Very disappointed, and I will tell everyone I know this story and for them to avoid buying LG products. ... show more

Sick of looking for dumb apps on your "smart" T.V. every time you turn it on? Put in a disc. watch for hours, leave, come back and continue where you left off. It's really nice not having to go into an app every time I turn on my television. I don't know why we ever went away from these players. Sound quality is 10X better not to mention I can watch when the internet decides not to work. Worth every penny ... show more
