Had to assemble- very easy. I used extension piece for the type of fixture I wanted to the fan use in. I believe that I need to turn the sensor on the fan base for the remote in a different direction so that I can use my remote from my couch. When I installed (screwed in fan like a light bulb) the fan I turned sensor towards the wall instead facing the middle of the room. The light socket ceiling fan works as described. It not very big and does not move a massive amount of air, but if you have a light socket the install is super easy. My older kids' room doesn't have a fan in it. I changed out their light for a led one with some fun colors, and put this in their closet. It's currently just storage and a rack of clothes, but when I refinish it it will have a vanity and storage cubes for folded clothes, so this little fan will be perfect to keep the closet cool and provide some air movement in their room when the ac is off. It was simple to put together--the blades can only go one way, so just click the blades into place, and yes they do click. I used the extender so that it will be closer to the closet door opening. It simply and securely screws onto the fan, and then into the ceiling socket. It has multiple types of light and multiple brightness settings. It could be used as a night light for kids scared of the closet. It comes with a remote that has timer settings as well, so they can keep it by their bed and use it if they're scared. Its motor is silent and it runs very smoothly. The light is LED so it's very energy efficient. It was so bright that we had to change the color and dim it while uninstalling the long chain that went with the light bulb that was there before. Instead, I just left the chain pulled and wrapped it around the base of the fan, then looped it into itself to hold it. In case we lost the remote or the batteries die and we need it before we get new batteries, the pull chain does work to turn the light on and off. If you left the fan on, maybe the fan would also turn on but I haven't tested that. Better to get a remote holder for a table or wall and always put it away, plus keep some spare batteries handy. ... show more
