I just picked up this rack in anticipation for this year's ski season. Having never installed a rack before, the process was straightforward enough. However, in the instructions when securing the brackets it is not clear that you need to include a small screw in the bracket to bolt the rack to your cross bars. While the pictures display this, for the uninitiated it can cause you to backtrack a bit. All-in-all for the price it seems decent. Another thing to note is that securing the lug nuts to the previously mentioned screw is a bit tedious. Everything seems secure enough. Will report back after a few practical uses. ... show more

I just came back from Mammoth on the way there from LA. It was windy at one point however the board on top of my car didn’t make any noise. It was very steady. I carried three boards with me and I think that was as many as it could carry if you have some bigger boards for powder snowboarding, it does come with a lock and a pair of keys so that I didn’t have to carry my boards into Airbnb with me every night in the description it says when you are carrying boards, do not drive over 80 mph That’s a thing to keep in mind ... show more

Not the easiest rack to clip down once the skis are in it. We had 4 sets of skis and a snowboard clipped in (we thought). Got on the interstate, looked in my rear view mirror, and skis and a snowboard were flying all over the 3 lane Highway!! I pulled over, my 70 year old dad jumped out of the car, stopped the traffic and collected all the gear. Praise the Lord no one was hurt! The ski rack broke in the ordeal.
