The rainbow colors are awesome but the color change is useless for small prints. In the photo the nice looking striped items took roughly 24 hours to print. The orange item lying down printed earlier took half an hour to print with the same filament has almost no color change whatsoever. I would love one of these manufacturers to sell a good selection of rainbow filaments where you can pick the color change rate based on the type you items you plan to print. If it was available I’d probably buy four spools where the full spectrum cycles through in like: half hour, two hours, four hours, eight hours. So only four stars because of the limited usefulness for normal printing. ... show more

    • The black seems to clog the print head

The stars are set lower for print quality due to the fact that I've had numerous issues with not one but 2 rolls of this black clogging the nozzle. We all know what happens when we have a nozzle clog, makes print quality horrible. Have a roll of the yellow green silk and don't have issues with it or any other pla clogging the nozzle like the black does. Alas, it's really pretty and so I keep using it, just have a reminder in Alexa to clean the nozzle weekly now. ... show more

I returned this because I got a roll as a gift, but let me tell you, this is the greatest rainbow PLA you will ever use! The color changes are faster than anything else out there! The media could not be loaded. Had mixed luck. The first print I did with my spool did not adhere properly. After using nearly 300g of filament one of the wings of my print detached from the bed ruining the print. The bed was set to 60 and the filament was printing at 200 degrees. I did two more prints that went great, but I had to add a raft as well as increase the starting layer temperature to 240 with the rest of the print at 220. Speed of the print was 250 mm/s. Unfortunately I lost nearly 1/3rd of my roll due to the first print failure. I got the roll for $23.99 which is a reasonable price without failures. I see it has went up to $29.99 now. When it works it looks great. Included photos showing a successful dragon and one that had the wing detach during printing. ... show more

    • Might want to not use with a bowden type extruders.
Color: Most 18 Popular Shiny Silk Colors
Don't get me wrong, the filament is of decent quality, nice and shiny and in a array of colors, but the total length of each color is rather small, and if you're using a 3d printer with a Bowden type extruder, like an Ender 3, there's quite a length that's in the tube between the extruder motor and the hot end, leaving you with not a whole lot of filament to actually print with, unless you join the lengths together yourself in order to make it longer and rainbow-y. There's guides on Youtube to teach you how to do so, and it's no fault of TTYT3D, but if you're like me and wanted to try out some different filament than what came with your machine, it's something to know. This would be fine for direct drive machines, or even better, 3d pens ... show more

I am on my 4th spool Of rainbow silk the overall quality has been fantastic. I go through a lot of filament and this has been some of the best spooled filament I’ve ever used.
