This power-monitoring-only version only saves you 30¢ versus the Shelly that does power monitoring AND switching, so the number of use-cases for this device is pretty small. The reports and information in the app is the same for both versions. That said, it does work very well. You MUST be aware of the type of outlet box you have in your wall as some homes use metal boxes for their outlets, which will greatly reduce (or block) the WiFi signal this needs to work. There's not much to look at with this, as it's meant to be small enough to install inside the wall. The most important aspect are the reports and status screens available in the app OR in your HomeAssistant dashboard. As you can see from my screenshots, you can view the current voltage and amperage in use and you can also view comparison graphs (by day, week, month or even year! This one is wired-in to the outlet for my chest-freezer. You can see that in the last 30 days it has used 32.11 kWh of electricity (or about $5.78). ... show more

I think Frequency was fixed. It is showing me 60.1 Hz for Frequency and I am in USA on 120V circuit. It took several updates of firmware and now I am at 1.3.3 but when I got higher it is broken. Other than that pretty neat device and you can do so much with it.

Does what it claims. Works with Home Assistant. Just has the annoying Shelly setup hassle (connect to the device’s access point to configure). A big plus is that no cloud access is required. The only big is that it reports 60Hz power as 41.7Hz. Apparently they divided instead of multiplied (50/60) * 50Hz = 42Hz. ... show more

    • Great product to send power. However has a week wifi signal, which drops the connection easily.

Worked like a charm to send data to Home Assistant. However due to the weak wifi adapter in this device the wifi connection may drop frequently or loose the connection completely. The PM device allows you to configure two wifi networks, one primary and one backup. The PM device will automatically switch between networks when required. When it does switch networks, the IP address of the device will change, which makes pulling data an issue. In order to resolve this issue, I configured the device to send the data to my MQTT server, which is accessible by both networks. ... show more

Originally here in the US, it reported 42 Hz as opposed to 60 Hz. I contacted tech support some time ago and they said they are aware of the issue. Recently a firmware update has resolved the issue.

If your device is stuck with "Device Updating" after a firmware update, and resetting the device won't fix the issue, try re-adding the power meter in Shelly control from a different device. If that solves the issue, uninstall the app on the mobile device were the power meter was stuck in the "Device Updating" loop and clear storage and cache if Android. When I picked this model I was looking at the Comparison chart and it stated the function as "Switching and Triggering" and additional functions as "Smart lighting Energy lighting" so I thought I could us it to power a light and control its power on and off with the device. But this device only does power metering and has no switching feature, when you go to the Shelly website it states : "*This is only a power meter. There is no relay inside." ... show more
