This review is for: SetWire NEMA 10-30P to 14-50R EV Charger Adapter Cord, EV Charger Extension Cord, 30 Amp Dryer to 50 Amp EV Conversion Adapter for Level 2 EV Charging, I was looking for an adapter for level 2 charging from a NEMA 10-30 outlet for my Tesla model Y without the expense of putting in a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my detached garage that I only occasionally charge from. I did reduce the charge rate to a max of 24 amps for this as the outlet is on a 30 amp breaker. This charged my Tesla at about 20mph (which is fine and really has nothing to do with the adapter itself). This works as advertised. It is of good quality construction and thicker, and more durable than the Tesla adapters. It fits tightly into the socket and the Tesla mobile charger's 14-50 cord. It is very well oriented so that it will hang freely from the outlet, provided the neutral in the socket is up. In spite of its thick appearance, it is still only 10 gauge wire inside, which is still fine for these purposes. I will be taking this with me wherever I go in case I need to charge frome someone's dryer outlet. ... show more

You're plugging a 50amp device into a 30amp outlet... don't burn your house down. Make sure you dial back the draw on your charger to be safe. Otherwise, this works perfectly as an adapter, IMO.

If you download the user manual, you will get the one I have. It says to install the charger, connect to WI-FI and open the app. The app immediately says SCAN for bluetooth, which fails, there is no bluetooth device. Even settings can't be accessed until bluetooth connects, which it doesn't. The website www.setwireenergy.com printed on the manual does not exist. The 833 support number does answer and asks "What printer you are calling about?" And then tells you to email support. Which does work and they say use the APP which works, end of support. The good news is the charger does work and the buttons allow you to set the charging power, a feature I needed. I expect if it fails, there is no warranty available. I'm not returning it because its installed and works and I don't want to remove and re-install. If the app gets fixed and the website is made to exist, I will up my rating to 4 or 5 stars. If the unit fails, I will find out if there is warranty support, I doubt it. I will carefully read reviews and buy some other product next time. ... show more

    • Trust my failure and buy leviton for the socket nema 14-50

This product look great and solid UNTIL i put my 6 awg and screw in. The thread of the screw wear out and losen and the wire come lose. I returned back to them. Box cover design is sleak but I recommend to go to hardware store to buy leviton 14-50 (USquality) socket to replace the one they provide made in china. ... show more
