  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Can’t beat it for the price
Size: NEMA 5-15 plug
Just acquired a 2022 tesla model 3 long range almost 2 weeks ago. Only to find out the later ‘22 models don’t come with the tesla portable charger anymore. It was my fault for assuming it came with it. Anyway I bought this in a hurry. And was very pleased with how it looked when it was arrived. I bought it “used” here on Amazon but when it arrived it looked brand new. Like literally brand new. So not sure how it’s used. Anyway I don’t have level 2 240v in my house (YET) so this will do for now. I don’t travel far, only 18 miles each day but cold weather takes a toll on your range. So far in the past week or so with relatively cold temps especially at night of around 25-30F, I will lose an additional 15 miles of range per day. Since I am a car enthusiast I do have a heavy foot so my usual 18 miles a day can easily go to about 45-50 miles of lost range a day, with the cooler temps. Not ideal if you’re relying on level 1 charging. It’s not a big deal for me since I have a Tesla supercharger 1.8 miles from my house. But I like convenience and I have 3 other cars to drive so this will do in the meantime. I get home from work at 5:30pm, plug in the car and I unplug at around 6am to leave for work. That’s enough for around 72-75 miles of range added each night. I set this charger through the app at 15A. Because I’m using my dryer outlet to plug this into. It charges at a very consistent 6mi/hr. So far no issues except one time I opened the dryer door by mistake and the dryer light came on and that was enough to send a fault through the charger and it stopped charging. I did have to go back outside to the car and unplug the charger and replug it. I couldn’t just restart the charge from the app after the fault. So that’s a small inconvenience. But it’s good to know there’s a safety built into this in case something goes wrong if you’re charging the car while you sleep. It’ll just stop charging instead of trying automatically possibly tripping your breakers or something worse. This is definitely worth the money so far. Will update if I foresee any issues. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great portable EV charger for level 1 and 2
Size: NEMA 6-20 & 5-15 Plug
I have the one with the NEMA 6-20 plug option and it’s great. It’s compact, efficient, relatively inexpensive, and it fits in the frunk of our EV-6 along with all the accessories I prefer. I was getting close to 1.3kW on 120V (level 1) and 3.6kw on 240 (16A on level 2) reliably every time automatically. Pro tip - 6-20 plug has standard 1’ adapter cables available for the common 30A and 50A RV hookups which are incredibly useful for level 2 charging while on camping trips or at places where RV hookups are common. Having a 50’ 6-20 extension cable is really useful in some cases, I made my own dryer plug adapter to 6-20 and use the extension cord (12ga 600V) at my in-laws house for fast charging as their garage is not wired for 240 but the laundry room is next door and this way it can charge in the driveway and not block their garage access which is important as some people have limited mobility. Only downside is you can’t safely do laundry and charge at the same time but I think I can blame physics and not the charger for that one. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great option for Tesla owners!
Size: NEMA 5-15 plug
I purchased this charger about a year and a half ago for my Prius Prime, which I used every day. The connector is really snug on the charging port, but it gets the job done. I recently sold my Prius to get a Tesla Model 3. While my Tesla does come with the Mobile Connector, my brother was using the charger for a business trip. I had the Lectron charger lying around, plus I had the J1772 - Tesla adapter handy so I plugged it in overnight. Little did I know that this Lectron charger is much better than Tesla's! Tesla's mobile connector only supports 12A or 3-4 miles/per hour. This Lectron charger is 16A and charges at 6 miles/per hour! I highly recommend it for those who don't have a level 2 charger at home but still want something sturdy and reliable with faster speeds than the Tesla mobile connector. The charger itself is cheaper, you just need to purchase an adapter which also comes in handy when you use public level 2 chargers. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars This charger is not for someone who is in a hurry. It is slow but it is sure!
Size: NEMA 5-15 plug
I like the fact that I could my existing electrical outlet and I did not have to have any special electrical work done.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Works fine, IF you know how to use it safely. Requires 20A outlets.
Size: NEMA 6-20 & 5-15 Plug
This is, as it states, a 16A charger. At 120V, it's a L1 charger, delivering about 1.8 kW. At 240V, it delivers about 3.7 kW. For 240V, it correctly has a NEMA 6-20 plug, which can only plug into a 20A outlet. However, for 120V, they include a 5-15 to 6-20 adapter. This is cheating, and is dangerous -- it allows you to plug a 20A device into a 15A outlet. However, the device draws more than 15A (see pictures). Your circuit breakers will get very warm to the touch, as will any GFCI outlets you plug this into. 15A AFCI and GFCI breakers will trip while charging, because they are not designed for a continuous load at the breaker rating. Additionally, the 6-20 to 5-15 adapter is made with 14 gauge wire, which can handle at most 15A, and is only rated for a continuous load of 12-13A, but the charger draws 15.5. (This device is not UL-listed, and this is probably why. Unfortunately, this seems common for portable chargers). To use this safely: 1) For 120V, only plug this into 20A outlets (identifiable by the T-shaped left blade socket, NEMA 5-20), wired with 12 gauge wire (identifiable by the yellow insulation for cables made after 2001), connected to a 20A breaker. Make sure the adapter has plenty of space around it for heat dissipation, or ideally get an adapter made with 12 gauge wire. 2) If your car lets you control charging levels, set it to "minimum" (instead of "maximum" or "auto") when using 120V. It'll take longer, but it'll be safer. 3) If you never plan to charge on 240V, get a 12A L1 portable charger instead. Guaranteed to work on any household outlet in North America without worrying about overheating or breakers tripping. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine
Size: NEMA 5-15 plug
I bought an Audi E-tron that didn’t have a charging cable included, Audi’s cables were ten times as much and I was warned about generics. Takes longer to charge than at an actual charging station, but works.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Beefy cable to replace OEM charger
Size: NEMA 5-15 plug
This is much sturdier than the charger I got from the dealership with my car. Cable is beefier and connector is heavier duty. Charges the same as my OEM cable, just at a cheaper price.
