  • This one works with my 2023 Rav 4 Prime SE
It reduces the charging time from 11 1/2 hr to 5 hours using this level 2 Charger. It specifically listed my car as being compatible. Many chargers advertised on Amazon only give a generalization as to what it compatible or provide small list of compatible vehicles It’s an issue because I ordered a Splitvolt EVSE Level 2 Charger - Level 2 EV Charger NEMA 10-30 240V with 16 ft Cord which didn’t work and I had to return…. For all purposes it appeared to be the similar to the Lectron but it lighted ground fault errors on a dedicated 240 volt line immediately after plugging it in. I had no way to determine if it was simply an incompatible charger, defective charger or something wrong with my 240 volt line. This Lectron fortunately works fine. ... show more

  • Nicely made, simple to use
This is the second Lectron charging device I've purchased and it's also made very nicely, working as described. I had planned to install a wall-mounted charging station at my mother's house (she recently bought a first-generation Chevrolet Volt), then realized that a solution like this was enough for her. It will effectively stay plugged in to the 240v line we installed in her garage, and the cable is light enough for her to manage. The Volt is a lower-amperage charging vehicle and doesn't need 30-amp or higher service, making this perfect. The only drawback I see is that it does not include an app to show current charging status, as some of the nicer units have. But at under $200, who cares? My mother did the happy dance at speeding up her charging time (compared to 120v charging), and my wallet isn't screaming. ... show more

  • Didn’t last and melted
Size: 32A
I really liked this charger, good value for the money, and had no issues until two days ago. I went and unplugged my vehicle in the morning and when I went to leave it only had 44% of a charge. Weird but ok maybe something was with the vehicle. I drove to work and plugged into the charger there. It charged up no problem. Came home and plugged it in. Cam out this morning and saw the digital screen on this unit was glitching out. Checked and the vehicle was only at 46%. I went to unplug the unit from the vehicle and the handle was warm. Unhooked it and touched the wire/cable. It was also very warm. I went to unplug the unit from the outlet and noticed a melted spot on the back of the 14-50 plug. I immediately shut the breaker to the outlet off. The plug was so hot I had to get a glove to unplug it. This was very concerning. So I drove to work as normal and again no problems charging there. I also ran to a public charger to try it out there and again no problem so it’s not the vehicle. The outlet in my garage is an expensive name brand unit for EV’s and has been installed and used for several years so my only conclusion is to seriously spend the extra money on a UL-listed charger. I made the mistake and man I could of burnt my house down. ... show more

  • I’m Happy With This Charger
I have a Ford Lightning Pro. With this 16 amp Lectron charger I get about 8 miles range per hour. I’ve used it about four months and am pleased with it. I’m usually charged to 80% by the next morning and am ready to go. I have no experience with other electric vehicles but assume lighter vehicles might get more range per hour. The Ford Lightning is big and heavy. And rather nice for a work truck. It also helps that my usual destination is only a little over 50 miles away and has a 50 amp outlet. Using the Ford charger that came with the truck, I’m able to recharge back to 80% in less than 4 hours. I get about 15 miles charge per hour there. This is a rewritten this review because my first attempt was overly complicated, and I definitely don’t want to try to offer advice about electricity. I’m happy with the Lectron charger. It was affordable and works for my needs. ... show more

  • Simple and works
The installation was easy. I like the hook to hold the cord and the piece to clip the charging head into while not charging. The charger head clip orientation causes the charging head and some of the cord to stick straight out, perpendicular to the wall so it uses a little more room than necessary. this wasn't an issue for me, it doesn't stick out too far. I wish it could be mounted so the charging head can be stored more parallel to the wall. The charging block with the digital reasout is hung on a single nail or screw. This makes it easy to hang on the wall but acts as a pivot point, allowing the block to move when moving the cord. It doesn't have an effect on how it charges the vehicle but drives me nuts seeing it move and not hanging straight up and down. The level one charger that came with my 2022 Bolt hung on two nails\screws. It was a little more difficult initially mounting it, getting the spacing correct between the two mounting points, but it held the block securely. If this had two mounting points for the block and a way to store the charging handle more parallel too the wall then this charger would be perfect. ... show more

  • good product, need to install correct circuit breaker size
Size: 32A
After completing the installation and trying this charger out for the first time on my 2022 Kia Niro, it charged for 10 minutes and tripped the circuit breaker. I tried again and got the same result. The company was very responsive via email and went the extra distance to try to satisfy my issue. After conferring with a friend of mine who teaches electrical at a technical college, a quick amperage test found the problem. The installation requirements for this charger called for a 20 amp circuit breaker but when charger at the level 2 charging rate for 220/240 volts the amperage draw is 31-32 amps which was overpowering the 20 amp breaker. My friend showed me a couple of charts utilized in determining electrical usages per installation codes and the conclusion was to up the circuit breaker to 40 amp (can go as high as 50 using 8 gauge wire). Upon changing to the 40 amp breaker I proceeded to charge my car for 4 1/2 hours in 90 degree heat without any issues. That being said, this charger is a quality product and I like the convenience of it's portability along with the capability of utilizing different charging levels and the price is very reasonable. ... show more
