  • Unreliable. Horrible app. Purchase something else!
Charging my 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime. Works well.... sometimes. The Android app is useless. After 15 months, it still crashes constantly and will not show change data. Stops charging Requiring a call to India for tech support. They remotely keep lowering the output amperage until the car will let it connect. (It is supposed to do this automatically suggesting the unit is defective. ) Even tech support gave up on the app because it wouldn't show the unit id number. The only reason i bought this is that it is one of 2 units that my power company can talk to (in theory at least) . Buy a different charger! There is a fairly heavy cable that needs to be wound and unwound, but the design appears to be common to all charge points. Wish it had a reel. This device requires a 50AMP 240V circuit to deliver 40 Amps to the car. It has a fairly short 5' plug that goes to the wall outlet. I had to install a dedicated circuit, so positioned the wall outlet where I needed it for my garage. Because the JuiceBox is internet connected and can be shut off remotely by my electric company, I get a $45 annual credit from Dominion Electric in VA. ... show more

  • Underwhelmed
Based on the ratings and the compatibility with our car, I decided to get this thing for our EV. In retrospect, I would have gone with something else. Setup: Ok, so instructions seem simple enough. Mount, plug into socket, install app, create account, pair app, prosper. Unfortunately, it was not that simple. First problem was getting the device to go into pairing mode. It's supposed to create its own wifi network to connect your phone to so you can configure it to connect to your home network. It wouldn't create the network though. Had to plug and unplug the device three times before it finally showed a network. Then, it had problems connecting to my home wifi. Had to repeat the process multiple times to get it to connect despite having a great signal (only about 15 ft from my router). Ok, so now the app wants my car info. It has a list of manufacturers, models, and years to choose from. Problem is, my car isn't in the list. Best I can do it pick a model two years older than mine. I do and immediately notice the information for the battery/charging is off. So I figure I'll add the car and then edit the values. Well, it keeps telling me it can't add the vehicle. That happened 5 times. Finally figured out that it had to do with the fact that I was using its built-in bar code scanner to scan my VIN and it was bringing in the VIN incorrectly which was causing it to just throw a generic error. Fine. Added the vehicle without the VIN. Then went to edit the values. Had to type in the VIN manually and updated all the battery info. Great. Finally ready to charge. Use: I plug the device in and the car begins to charge. Great! Look at the app though and immediately notice a problem. It says it is going to charge an hour faster than the car says. Ok, must have entered the wrong battery data. Nope. Everything us correct. So I look at the power usage and notice that the device is charging my car .3 kW less than my car supposedly can take. That's odd, but whatever. I update the charging info for my vehicle. It still shows the incorrect time and miles added. App: Speaking of the app, underwhelmed by the features. It won't connect to my utility provider to download rate information and I can't add it manually, so I can't see how much I've spent on electricity. Quality: For $700 device I'd expect the device to feel a bit sturdier. But the plug holder flexes when I pull out the plug in a way that feels like it is weak and may fail at some point. Summary: If they can fix the bugs in the app, get the vehicle list updated, ensure charging info is accurate, and let me add the price for energy at different times of the day/week so I can see how much I've spent on a per charge / daily / monthly / yearly basis, I'd give this a 4. If they could make holder feel sturdier that'd bring it to 5. ... show more

  • My first EV charging station, and it's awesome!
I'm new to the EV world, this is my first level 2 charging station, and I couldn't be happier with it! It charges the car quickly, has an easy cable management solution, the plug clips into the charger nicely and the setup and app usage has been simple as can be. I really like being able to see all the data that is saved within the app in regards to amount of power used, amperage, etc. Ours is very close to our WiFi router so we have had no issues with signal strength. Also, the cable is plenty long to reach the car even if we park it outside. I'd seen mostly good reviews for the JuiceBox but ultimately what made me choose this model was that our local power company offered us a rebate for installing a level 2 charger if we chose one from their approved list. JuiceBox was one of the options. So if you are considering buying a level 2 charger, make sure to check with your power company to see if they have anything like that available in your area. Our rebate covered almost the entire purchase price. And the Federal government also gave us a rebate for a portion of the installation charges...so that was nice! Electricians in my area are very busy right now and some are booked months in advance, so getting the NEMA plug installed in the garage turned out to be a hassle (and more expensive that I would have thought) but that's no fault of JuiceBox. But installing a plug (if you don't already have one) is something to factor in if you are considering getting a charger like this. ... show more

  • Expensive, but it works!
I bought my first EV in June 2022 (Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited) . My electric company offers generous rebates if customers purchase one of their approved Level 2 chargers, this being one of them. My electrician said this installation was one of his more challenging installs, but only because my breaker box was full. He managed to combine some breakers, leaving space for this unit. It's installed in the garage and works perfectly. For me, I'm not that interested in the app's bells and whistles since my vehicle app (Bluelink) has more useful information. The charger works and works fast! No complaints at all. The only surprise I had is that the cord gets quite warm when charging. It required me to relocate a nearby gas can. No big deal. Important to note: The electric company prefers certain Level 2 chargers because of their wifi capabilities. That means that you'll need to have wifi coverage in your garage if installed there. The reason is so the electric company can slow down charging speeds on 'blackout' dates or on really hot or cold days, when daily usage is in high demand. You get an additional discount though. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied. ... show more
