  • Unreliable. Horrible app. Purchase something else!
Charging my 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime. Works well.... sometimes. The Android app is useless. After 15 months, it still crashes constantly and will not show change data. Stops charging Requiring a call to India for tech support. They remotely keep lowering the output amperage until the car will let it connect. (It is supposed to do this automatically suggesting the unit is defective. ) Even tech support gave up on the app because it wouldn't show the unit id number. The only reason i bought this is that it is one of 2 units that my power company can talk to (in theory at least) . Buy a different charger! There is a fairly heavy cable that needs to be wound and unwound, but the design appears to be common to all charge points. Wish it had a reel. This device requires a 50AMP 240V circuit to deliver 40 Amps to the car. It has a fairly short 5' plug that goes to the wall outlet. I had to install a dedicated circuit, so positioned the wall outlet where I needed it for my garage. Because the JuiceBox is internet connected and can be shut off remotely by my electric company, I get a $45 annual credit from Dominion Electric in VA. ... show more

  • Support is garbage
Physical installation was a breeze. Connecting to house wi-fi was a nightmare. Supposedly, you can use android or IOS to connect to Juice Net. I spent hours with support trying to connect with IOS phones. We got connected to Juice Net with Android phone. You only need to connect to Juice Net once and enter your home wi-fi. System then recognizes your home wi-fi. Nest problem is that there is an old an new app. I first used the old and was told to go to the new app. During one of the numerous suppsort calls, I was told that Juice Net was looking for the server with the old app so I needed to change to the old app. The old app allowed me to access Juice Net. First time I tried to charge using the old app it did not work and I was told that I needed to get the new app because the server was looking for the new app. I loaded the new app but the charger went over the 80% charge set. You guessed correctly if you thought that I called support again. The issue is still not resolved but the latest developments are when I loaded the new app two chargers came up on the app and the subsequent service call required me to remove the extra charger by unlinking it. EV is charged over 80% so I do not know if 80 percent limit will work. Finally, the we are experiencing high call volume is real. I spent hours trying to get connected and I was cut off at times sometimes with leave us your telephone number and message and sometimes just cut off. Best imes to call for me were 10:00 PM Eastern or later like 2:00 AM. ... show more

  • Will not purchase again or move to my new house
Update 8/20... One star because despite many nice functions this charger fails at the basic level of always charging my BEV. Looking for a new Level 2 charger. I cannot rely on the JuiceBox to charge my Mercedes. At least once out of 10 charges it fails to charge and has to be disconnected and reconnected to work. The Level 1 charger that came with the vehicle has never failed in the first 4.5 years of ownership, then I installed the Level 2 JuiceBox 12/19 with high expectations that have not been realized. When it works it works well but but any failure is not acceptable. Original three star review: Good: > Long 25' charging cable. > Case has a locking mechanism. > Built in cable and plug holder > Internet controllable for charging times, etc. Bad: > Most of these reviews are for the old model... new model should mean new reviews. > 18" plug in cable requires some extra planning for the NEMA 14-50 plug. Should be 24-36". Studs are 16" or 24" on center so mounting on studs within power cable distance can be problematic. Since I had an external mount I used 2" screws to assure I was mounted to the plywood underlayment. > Assumes you are mounting on a flat wall. Mounted on Hardy Plank lap siding and had to use several shims to prevent the mounting frame from bending. > Locking mechanism to the mounting plate is flimsy with little contact. This is a keep the casual thief honest lock. > Owners manual not updated from old model. > Internet instructions are poor... assumes you are using a 10.10.10.1 network when most home routers come with a 192.168.0.1 network. It is a lot of work to change a whole network. > Case changed from metal to plastic... My location requires mounting in the full sun. Hope the full sun does not damage the plastic or the electronics as the case heats up. This plastic locking case is really the only change for the version 2 of this charger. > Charging lights are hard to see in the sun. > The J1772 is a loose fit... apparently did not make contact a couple of nights and I had no charge the next morning (others have commented on this). There must be a lot of leeway in the build of the J1772 plug. The original that came with the car is a snug fit with no wobble. You want to be one of the Top-of-the-Line models, use Top-of-the-Line parts. > Version 2 seems to have no functionality change from the original, just a locking plastic case instead of a metal case. ... show more

  • Expensive, but it works!
I bought my first EV in June 2022 (Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited) . My electric company offers generous rebates if customers purchase one of their approved Level 2 chargers, this being one of them. My electrician said this installation was one of his more challenging installs, but only because my breaker box was full. He managed to combine some breakers, leaving space for this unit. It's installed in the garage and works perfectly. For me, I'm not that interested in the app's bells and whistles since my vehicle app (Bluelink) has more useful information. The charger works and works fast! No complaints at all. The only surprise I had is that the cord gets quite warm when charging. It required me to relocate a nearby gas can. No big deal. Important to note: The electric company prefers certain Level 2 chargers because of their wifi capabilities. That means that you'll need to have wifi coverage in your garage if installed there. The reason is so the electric company can slow down charging speeds on 'blackout' dates or on really hot or cold days, when daily usage is in high demand. You get an additional discount though. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied. ... show more
