The first product I received had clearly been used, damaged, re-packaged and sent to me as new. I was extremely upset bc this was the third item that I had received from Amazon over last 6 weeks of ordering everything for child’s freshman year college dorm that was broken, damaged, didn’t work, etc. I promptly received a reply, new product and good service though so that saved it. This is a great little safe. I bought it to keep my medications out of reach. It's definitely not built to stand up to a heavy assault, but compared to some of the other safes I looked at (where they had external hinges that could be easily compromised, etc.), this one seems the most secure. This is a great size to lock up under my sink, with the tether wrapped around the plumbing. Yes - someone could remove the plumbing to take the little safe, but I wasn't worried about that so much as easy removal or tampering. The safe would be a perfect fit under a car seat also, but is a bit big to try to travel with it - I wouldn't try to pack it in my suitcase to take along on a trip or anything. This product was for my son's dorm room. When we received it in April we were able to easily program it- we stored it, took it out for college in the fall and it completely failed to work- even with new batteries it would not take any codes, would not lock, and the manual fails to have any "trouble shooting" information or instructions on locking the box. ... show more

This isn't a super secure safe, but that's not the idea. It is perfect for keeping items relatively safe from the kids. The digital keypad hasn't let me down and works great overall.
