  • Great scooter for first time riders! Value for the buck.
The media could not be loaded. Sooo I’ve got the scooter finally. I think this scooter deserves better scoring. The build quality is very good. Setup and start up is relatively simple. The box had a sticker on it that it is 15miles version. The sticker on the base under the scooter was saying it was 250w. However, if you look at the motor itself the code on it means it is 300 watt version. So I guess they changed motor and upgraded electronics to Gen2 but the rear base side is still the same as Gen1 and they have not changed the label on it. I will update with tests, but is is a great scooter especially as a present for my daughter. And it is less expensive then ES2. So about suspension, it has only front not the rear. But I haven’t seen anything tells about rear suspension. Rear suspension is only on ES2. But I am still good with that. Not that critical for the price tag. *Update: I’ve tested the scooter, here and there, it can do 13-14 miles on a charge, and that is with my kid. I have added video proving the speed, it can do 15-16 mph. On a flat. Down the hill we where going 18-19mph. So far so good. ... show more

  • Fun, Fast and Upgradable to 20mph!
Fun to ride and commute to work. Great quality scooter. Feels very solid and easy to ride. The gen2 has good power, can take it to 16 mph and I’m 6 feet 200 lbs. Surprised how well it rides on different roads, sidewalks and trails. Upgraded it with the external battery and it zooms! Now goes to 20 mph and also climbs up hills better. The ES1 gen2 is the lightest of the models and then adding a battery makes it a killer scooter combo. Highly recommend the scooter and getting the external battery for it. ... show more

  • False Advertisement
After waiting 3 weeks for this scooter and I am very very disappointed with the amount of money I had to pay with the performance. The listing indicated the maximum speed on the scooter is 15mph and it’s a ES1 scooter with the ES2 300 motor so it can ride at 15mph. However, I looked at the sticker at the bottom and the description said this is a ES1 motor at 250 with maximum 12.5mph, which already doesn’t match the listing description. So I went for a test ride and the maximum speed was 15.4 km!!!! NOT mph!!!! The maximum speed was approx 9mph. I can’t even catch up with my 6 year old son who uses his leg power. It’s sooo powerless that it can’t even go up a tiny hill. I had to use my leg power to give it a boost. The body of the scooter is a lot heavier than the others. I would not recommend this to anyone because the listing is a scam, false advertisement. It’s definitely not what it’s worth. ... show more

  • amazing product but with a lot of issues
For a while I wasn't sure I liked it. But as I used it more and more it has become invaluable to me, especially in coronavirus times. I now think it's one of the best things I have ever purchased. It comes with a few caveats. Firstly, it's heavy. Not heavy enough to be unable to carry, but heavy enough that you don't want to carry it. Lots of commercials and pictures have these people seemingly one hand carrying this thing easily up stairs. Yes, I can do that but it's uncomfortable. If you are not a strong person this will be way more difficult. Secondly, there is no real easy way to roll this thing when folded. It would be great if it acted like rolling luggage but it doesn't. I did find a way to roll it one-handed by the rear wheel but regardless it is a big thing to be rolling around. Third, as I said, it's much bigger than you expect. Fourth, you are *required* to pair this scooter with a bluetooth device. This is not mentioned anywhere. If you don't, it will beep incessantly and only work on the slowest mode. This might not be so bad if not for the fact that pairing this thing took me an hour or two to work. Yes, you heard that right. After much googling and reading forums, someone told me to restart my phone and the scooter and finally it paired. The major issue here is so much of this stuff in the app is in Chinese language, I don't know what I'm reading. Another issue is there was some kind of software update and it just never downloaded and installed correctly. The whole thing is buggy. I don't understand why this cheap bs is happening considering the reputation of the brand Segway. I was always led to believe Segway was a high quality company. Basically these problems were what made me very regretful when I first got it. After I realized how to live with these issues, however, the thing became very useful. If you are fine with locking it up outside of businesses like a bike, you will be fine. You can bring it into some places easily but not everywhere. It claims the range is 15 miles. I have many times calculated it over many rides and I keep coming to the same result: about 9 miles. I cycle between modes 1 -3 often, so I'm averaging it at the medium mode. If I kept it at mode 3 then I'm sure the battery would run down faster. By the way, this is barely mentioned anywhere but this has 3 modes, accessed by you double clicking the button. First mode is casual, max of 12mph. Second is maybe 13mph (you see an S on the display), and highest mode is 15mph (you see a red S on the display). You will need the highest power if you are going up a hill, and even so it will struggle a bit. If you don't, you'll be moving along at 3-5 mph which is silly. So the rating is 4 stars because while there are a lot of issues, the thing is sturdy, works amazing, and is very helpful to me. If not the fact the build quality is so good and it is currently a fantastic use to me, it would be 3 stars. ... show more

  • Fragile but Fun! Excellent customer service!
It’s more fragile than expected. Or my 13 year old is just more hard on it than expected. He doesn’t use it but every other weekend and there are already parts that are loose and worried won’t make it for a long term use of this product. He (and everyone else) loves it tho!! ****UPDATE**** to 5 stars! So we ended up calling Segway and sending it in for repair. EXCELLENT customer service!! Fast and no cost to us, not even for shipping! My boy was up and going in no time. He has had it for a while now without the same issue. ... show more

  • Excellent scooter DONT LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS
This scooter is 100% the gen2 es1. I bought the expansion battery and hit speeds well over 20mph. The people complaining about this being slow aren't reading the manual. You HAVE TO WATCH THE SAFETY VIDEO IN THE APP TO UNLOCK THE FULL SPEED. The stickers will still say its gen 1, the only way to tell is the number on the front motor and the card they send you, as well as its top speed (after watching the stupid video and agreeing riding is your risk) SMH It's really a shame people are returning these. Their loss lol. I already put over 40 miles on this in less than three days. I have to say I like these more than the es2/es4 (it doesn't have the loud rear suspension) THIS IS THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK SCOOTER, most scooters that can go over 20mi at a speed of 20mph would cost almost $1000. For $370 scooter+$100 battery+$30 insurance you get a lot of scooter. ... show more
