  • Worked well
IT worked well, but I would advise getting the lift stand Scotty 2612. Easily pulled up full crab traps.

  • Scotty pot puller
Absolutely great product, I was on the fence about buying one for a while, ended up buying one and it's been an absolute game changer. It pulls up my big round crab pots with ease makes pulling 100' crab pot ropes easy and saves your back and shoulders.

  • Game changer pulling pots
This thing is awsome.... pulls pots without any problem. If you put out more then 1 trap this is an expense and tool you need. I dont have any problems pulling pots every 20 to 45 in. Easy to find the crab. Once found your limit is reached and you are headed home. This was a fabulous addition to my boat for sure. ... show more

  • Scotty is the best
There were 10-15 in the pots and it pulled it up with ease, works exactly as described…..

  • It's ultra reliable and super quiet!
Okay, about a year in use now and it's better than expected, no failures. I usually run 2-4 recreational pots on one 300 foot line with a lite mud anchor during really strong tides. Even survives well a total stop when snagged. I have a couple commercial crab pots I pull one at a time as well, from 60 feet. ... show more

  • Great little line puller
What a great little line puller! I put a Scotty mount for this puller on the bow of my boat, just behind the anchor roller, and use the puller for my 22-pound Danforth anchor, from depths up to 300 feet while halibut fishing. So far it has worked quite well (through the summer of 2017). I'm a little nervous about the longevity of the electric motor, as I've seen electric Ace pot pullers burn up several times when pulling king crab pots from similar depths. So far, so good. One of the genius aspects of this puller is the Scotty mount that lets me easily move it to the back of the boat, to mount on the downrigger pads, when its time to pull a crab pot. Again, it has worked well for crab pots, which we fish up to 400 feet. I do try to let the motor cool down if a pull seems like it's really taxing the motor, and so far it's held up. The thing is small enough to easily take on and off, and stow in a bench seat along with my two electric downriggers. I have to knock it down one star because the puller had almost no power at the capstan when I first tried to use it. A trip to the local Scotty warranty service center (the local fishing tackle dealer) resolved the problem. There was a loose jam nut under the capstan cover, accessed by removing the 4 screws on the top of the unit. It took two 3/4" wrenches to tighten the two nuts together, so they wouldn't spin down onto the base of the central bolt, tightening down and stopping the capstan from turning. If you find your puller squealing loudly and losing power, try taking off the top and tightening the two big nuts, after you've unscrewed them from the base of the central bolt a turn or two. ... show more

  • Lightweight, easy to install, and works very well.
Love this pot puller. Lightweight and easy to use. It is also low profile and easily hooked up to our existing scotty base for our downrigger. My only fear is that the attachment knob may come loose (from my hand) when I am inserting or removing from the base. I am going to try to figure out how to make a leash (I've been around boats/water enough to know even the most conscientious sometimes drop things in the water. I am really glad we chose this one. ... show more
