Nice hardcover book with quaint watercolor illustrations throughout. I bought this book months after its release, it has been a wonderful flavor-profile education. Since the Netflix series of the same name came out after I purchased it, the show has been a helpful companion to that book . ** One thing I do find irksome/baffling, is why the Kindle is so overpriced right now ($20+) and the hardcover is $45. I bought this book in 2020 and it was $20 for the hardcover book. Unless it’s out of print, the price more than doubling seems odd. ... show more

I. Love. This. Book. It has changed my cooking forever. It’s written in a conversational tone and Samin has such a beautiful interpretation of life and food that’s infectious through writing. It’s very easy to understand the concepts she teaches the reader.

  • What's not to love?!
I learned more about cooking in the first 100 pages of this book than I ever did in a cooking class or watching cooking shows on TV. Many have already extolled the virtues of this book, so all I can say is BUY THIS BOOK. I have Julia Child's book, I have The Great Cooks Cookbook, I have good ol' Betty Crocker, and many, many more, and NONE compare to this one! Samin is, indeed, the Julia Child of today. She writes like she speaks (on her Netflix show), so is very approachable. She mentions her food failures, why they failed, and how she was able to fix what she could in the kitchen. We've probably all been there. And Wendy's illustrations are great! This book will take the fear out of cooking for the beginner, and expand the horizons of the more seasoned cook. THE most useful book you'll need to become a better cook. This single book has made me a better cook, and excited to get in the kitchen. ... show more
