After about a week of having this Safer Home indoor fly trap plugged in, I've been pretty impressed with its effectiveness at catching various flying insects around my home. For a compact and chemical-free device, it packs a punch. Pros: - Starts working immediately once plugged in to attract flies, gnats, fruit flies, etc. - Built-in UV light seems to do a great job luring bugs towards the trap - Design is discreet and blends in, despite its flyaway catching abilities - No harsh insecticide chemicals, making it safe for homes with kids/pets - Removable glue cards make it easy to discard trapped bugs - Decently affordable price for ongoing protection Cons: - Glue cards will need to be replaced frequently depending on insect activity - Won't completely eliminate all flying pests, but does reduce populations - Larger flies seem to get stuck easier than super tiny gnats After just one week, the glue card has already accumulated a decent collection of captured flies, moths, and other small winged insects. It's satisfying to see it working to reduce the indoor bug levels. While you'll have to purchase glue refill packs, not having to buy toxic spray insecticides is a big plus in my book, especially with pets around. The UV light seems to do all the luring work. It may not completely eradicate every single fly or gnat, but it has noticeably cut down on the amount of them buzzing around my kitchen and living areas. This is an excellent product. I installed it in my 30x40', three bay garage and overnight the device had trapped a significant number of flying insects. I am impressed with the range of the trap. I suppose the blue light attracts them and once on the trap, they are done for. I'm rating the trap at 4 stars because I don't know yet how often I will need to change out sticky boards. The instruction calls for every 21 days but I'll wait and see. Amazon carries refills and it came with one refill. I didn't know that I had so many gnats (and perhaps other tiny flies?) in the master bathroom and my office. All I knew is that it seemed that there was something that was doing a "drive-by-bite", and it was so fast that I could never see it, hence I could never catch it. I recently killed a couple of gnats in the master bath, something I hadn't seen in the first 2 years we first purchased this home, so I feel like this problem is new. I started looking into how to fix the situation, and I knew right away that I was not interested in creating a whole bunch of contraptions of apple cider vinegar with sweeteners, etc, to catch these. I didn't want jars of liquid all over my house. So, as usual, I knew someone on Amazon had figured out an easier way, and here we are! Now, I definitely need to figure out the root cause, but in the meantime, the solution offered by the Safer Home gnat/fly trap is fantastic. At first, it seemed to be slow going, but within a half hour, one gnat was already on the card. I thought, well, that was probably the one who had been continuously biting my feet and legs! Later, I saw another stuck on the card and then didn't see much action for a couple of days. Days later there were a couple more...and more! I was thinking, yes, yes, invite all of your friends and family! And it seems that they did. Within 2 weeks or so, the card was nearly covered! Occasionally, I will turn on the light in the bath and find one or two crawling along the edge, or dancing behind the card, and then it jumps on the card and back off. It's fascinating! If one is running along the edge, I will help him meet his fate sooner, and if not, he will eventually stick to the card with everyone else. What I do notice though is that in the afternoon one gnat (or two?) wanders into the office where I am working after I've closed the light-blocking curtains to block the heat and sun. (I guess they are drawn in by the lamp?) So, now I am wondering if I should put another Safer Home trap right on my desk, or by my legs because all of the drive-by-biting makes it difficult to concentrate on what I'm working on. For anyone who says "it didn't work" may need a bit more patience, or they have too much light in the place where the night light is placed. I placed mine in the master bath, and it's pretty dark in there, but there's no door to the main portion of the bath (only where the toilet is). I thought that the light from the gigantic sliding glass windows in the office would affect how the product worked, but it hasn't. In other words, too much light coming in from elsewhere wouldn't draw the gnats to the UV light in the bath, but this must not be the case for my master bath. I am so thankful for this product, and I recommend it! P.S. I have attached 2 pictures of what the trap looks like in the master bath with a bit of light filtering in from the big windows in the office. It seems that if you can get your space at least this dark, this product will do wonders for your space - and your ability to concentrate while working!! ... show more

My neighborhood has been having a problem with flies (living near cow farms will do that). It's been an annoying start to the summer, but this little plug in had been my saving grace. It's super easy to use - just peel off the sticker on the back and slot the pad into place, then plug into an outlet. I installed it in our kitchen and lowered the lighting. There's still flies zooming around days after, during meal prep, but has trapped a couple dozen over the last two days. The fly ribbons comparatively have only grabbed several. It works using UV light, so it may degrade if left plugged in, but that's just something I've read on reviews of similar UV traps. ... show more
