Well I was warned by that 3 star review you got earlier! The CENTER plate in the stack arrived broken, as you can see! I'm not going to go to the trouble of returning all 6 as the other review said would be necessary to get a replacement. Also, I still plan to finish the collection by ordering the salad plates next month. I may even decide to try to order another set of dinner plates later, as well as some extra bowls. IF: 1: Both the inner and outer boxes are marked FRAGILE 2: The outer box is packed properly with some of the typical Amazon air cusions, for obvious reasons. I want to offer a modest suggestion to S&Q's packaging department as well. Since the middle plate in the package was apparently fractured by the weight of the other 4, how about 2 or 3 layers of your foam sheets above and below the center plate. Remember to add that FRAGILE sticker, please. I can't help wonder if the center plate broke for that other customer too? All that said, you still get 4 stars because I appreciate the beauty of this design and workmanship. I hope we can find a simple way solve this issue. Thank you. UPDATE: the instructions in the package said to contact S&Q through Amazon. Isn't this what you had in mind? How about a response? Is there another way to contact your company? ... show more

Beautiful and well made dishes. These look sturdy and present nicely. A couple were flawed but customer service made it right quickly and easily. I would definitely buy again!

So I really like they way this was made but the grey bold spray spots on each side not so much . Before buying it looked like the light glaring on the ceramic like one of my photos. These plates look beautiful. They are on the thinner side, and one came cracked with sharp pieces broke off in the box, despite how well the packaging was done. I hope the other 5 hold up better. Amazon makes resolving the issue even further because it wants to return all 6 to replace or refund the set for 1 broken plate. I don’t want to risk having to ship them again as it increases the risk for getting more broke in transit. ... show more

I absolutely love these salad/dessert plates! Although I love color - and typically, the bolder the better - and use it a lot in my home decor and furnishings, I am a purist when it comes to plates. I am of the mindset that food is best presented on a white palette. That said, when adding plates (and bowls) to my collection, I'm always on the lookout for unusual shapes, patterns, textures, and designs, so that I don't end up with boring white plates! This set of 8 inch plates is just what I was looking for! They appear to me to be well made, quality stoneware. They are an attractive off-white, cream color, with a beautiful matte finish and a generous sprinkling of black (or is it brown?) speckles. Just enough speckles to make them interesting! What I also really love about these plates are their 1/2 inch rims or lips, which help to keep all the food on the plate and make it easier to eat every last bite! In fact, my son used a plate yesterday for the first time, and commented on how nice it was that all of the crumbs from his sandwich remained on the plate. I also like that the plates are not flush to the ground, as you can see in my side view photo. This makes them easy to stack and also enhances the way they look on the table, being slightly raised. One of my plates has a small chip on one of its bottom rim. (See photo.) Since it is minor and not at all visible from the top, I'm not going to worry about it. Other than that, this set of plates arrived in perfect condition. Before ordering these plates, I made sure that they were both dishwasher and microwave safe, as I can't be bothered with fragile plates that I have to worry about. I'm looking forward to our family getting a lot of use out of these beautiful plates, and I am currently eyeing the larger-sized dinner plates that would match these. UPDATE: Well, I went ahead and ordered a set of the 10 1/2 inch dinner plates and now I am very disappointed because after just a few uses, they are showing faint dark colored scratches over their surface. I suspect this may be due to using a knife on them to cut meat on their unusual matte surfaces, although I am not positive. I only know that these scratch marks have not appeared on any of my 8 inch appetizer plates which remain beautiful and flawless. Needless to say, I'm disappointed with my new set of dinner plates as the scratch marks definitely detract from their beauty. ... show more
