I'm so happy with these elegant, uniquely shaped dishes. I wanted white, but was disappointed in all other listings online, I searched over 500 sets. I feel high-walled plates, will chip easily, don't know why these seem to be popular now. I chose this set because of their artful shape, but also because it has the large bowls (for soup or large salads) -- which most other sets do not, as well as the small bowls. And the dessert plates are important too. I didn't need the cups/saucers because we have many art pottery mugs, (but if I did need them, they are shaped really pretty.) I LOVE the appearance of this set! They are super stylish and unique. The warning: If having a set without defects is important to you, thoroughly inspect your set upon arrival. I had 2 plates arrive chipped and one of those plates has a blue mark that won't come off. The seller told me I needed to wash the plates with soap before using, and the blue mark will come off. I found that amusing. Lol They partially reimbursed me $18 for the plates. I was hoping for the 2 pieces to be replaced, but the seller noted that wasn't an option. Hindsight, I should have just returned the set and tried ordering another one in hopes it wasn't damaged. In response to other reviews, the bowls are small, but the salad plates make great bowls. I felt that made up for it. I feel the lips on the plates are adequate. After reading several reviews about dishes breaking in the microwave, we've opted not to microwave ours (especially given the lack of replacement pieces). I will say, that I've never seen a plate say it is microwavable to a certain temp. I'm also a little terrified that I'm going to break off a corner, given the design. Almost 2 weeks in, and nothing else has received damage. I'm still very happy with my purchase, I just worry about how long they'll hold up. ... show more

These dishes are so different and pretty. They are not too heavy and not light. Not sure what material this is but I am optimistically hopeful there will not be chips. Bowls are smaller than expected but will work. No children in my house so I feel good about their use.
