We like to make pizza at least once a week, but it’s hard to run a kitchen oven in Arizona when temps are often high 90s through 100s about 6 months of the year. We had an old grill that still worked, just too small for the way we cook outdoors, but the perfect size for turning into a pizza oven. We bought two packages of bricks to cover the grill surface, cutting to size as needed, and we can now make pizza outside any time of year without heating up the kitchen. We heat our home with a centrally located woodstove. Over the years, rough loading of firewood splits caused some of the original fire bricks to crack and break. The bricks fit and interlock, like a puzzle, each depending on the ones adjacent for support. We removed the damaged pieces, shop-vacked inside the stove and found these Rutland bricks fit perfectly. I have used these before and have been satisfied. They have the best temperature rating and are more dense than others that I have purchased. Half of the bricks had cracks, whether from production or shipping I can't tell. The packaging could definitely be better for bricks this expensive. I know that all the bricks that I was replacing were this brand which does not speak well for their longevity. ... show more
