Description

THE POOL SENTRY is used to maintain the water level of a pool, spa or pond automatically and unattended. When the Pool Sentry is removed from the box, it is easily assembled by threading the fill tube into the float valve. Snap the fill tube and float valve into the base and fill the base with small rocks or pea gravel. Next, snap the top cover onto the base and attach the garden hose (not included). Finally, adjust the float to the desired position. The supply water stays on at all times when the Pool Sentry is in the pool. As the float drops, the water turns on. When the float reaches its set height, the water shuts off. The customer can adjust the float to any desired level, usually a point halfway on the tile line or skimmer. Because the hose is under constant water pressure, it is essential that the customer uses a heavy-duty, reinforced hose. A flyer in each box offers customers an aftermarket hose. It is rated to 200 psi working pressure and 750 psi burst strength. The Pool Sentry works with a pool water level that is 2 to 8" below the pool deck surface.

I had to buy a full replacement unit because the old one was a bit too far gone (note that you can buy individual parts from the Rola Chem manufacturing site for some parts even less than 10 bucks). This was easy to install but took some trial and error to find a decent stopping point for the water level in my pool. I recommend also buying the hose thru the same company from their actual site since the hose recommended through amazon was not rated properly for the auto-filling. I had to return the recommended by amazon hose as soon as I got it as it didn't feel safe (felt super cheap) and not worth the risk of having a potential water burst while I am at work. Other than that, great buy so far and the hose purchased from the same Rola Chem official site works perfectly. ... show more

Simple to install. Bought it because I had a leak in my pool at one point. I will keep it installed because a lot of evaporation during summer. The only cons is that I had to buy a dual hose output to Also use my garden hose. I suggest the product comes with a small hose.

Some of the reviews stated that the hose connections leaked right out of the box. I have found that you must wrap 2 or 3 rounds of Teflon tape to the threaded end before hand tightening the extension tube. Next wrap Teflon tape around the garden hose end before connecting to the unit. The tape keeps it from galling and makes it easy to remove after being in the heat over the summer. I thought I was going to break the plastic parts getting it set up but after I figured it out, works great. Leaked at first but thatโ€™s because the inner connection got loose when I was attached hose. Now it doesnโ€™t leak at all. We go out of town a lot and really needed something like this. I've had it for two weeks and on one hand it is a life saver. The best thing I ever bought. But in two weeks it did fail once and the pool nearly overflowed. I would still recommend as a back up even if you don't trust it. I am giving it more chances to set and forget.
