  • Lightweight Theater in your pocket
Color: Max
The rokid max is a step above the AR air, it is HCDP compliant and has a crisp clear 215" screen that filtered out 90% of the front light which makes you feel like no matter where you are you can feel apart of the movie and gaming experience. I had a moto 5g stylus that I had to turn in after getting this device as the phone did not have Miracast on it. A 350.00 mistake by the end of it so if you get this glasses just know that Miracast is critical to it's function not all models are plug and play and do require the goovis power bank adapter to operate optimally. Sound quality can be a bit dim in certain situations, but otherwise the sound is clear and crisp and allows you to make full use of the AR experience. The brim does run warm and not hot, but the myopia dials and adjustments on the legs of the glasses are a truly welcomed sight. At 75 grams it's lightweight and does not give eye fatigue and while it may look like that your looking through a viewfinder at times once your eyes adjust it is an experience of a lifetime. If I had to rate the glasses it would be 4 out of 5 due to the fact I have to be teatherd to the wireless adapter, but aside from that this product is highly recommended. Speedy delivery and truly a technological marvel. ... show more

  • Actually, These Perform Exactly As I Imagined
Color: Max
These glasses were plug and play for my iPad Pro and my MacBook Pro. I bought them to watch movies while relaxing on the recliner or in bed. I have no real intention of gaming with them, though I would imagine you could. Just keep your head still. For the most part, the picture is great. Plenty of brightness, though I use them mainly with the lowest or next to the lowest brightness setting, because of the dark environment of the bedroom. The picture is definitely fuzzy at the sides and corners. The fuzziness is more noticeable when viewing a browser or non-letterbox picture on both the iPad and MacBook. However, when viewing a letterbox movie it is less noticeable and in fact is very similar to a large movie screen, where you mostly focus on the center of the screen. The audio is satisfactory in a quiet environment. However, ambient noise could make it difficult, as does lower recorded source audio. At times, I wish I could boost it just a bit. I do have an astigmatism. I tried wearing my glasses under these, but it becomes bulky. So, I ordered the inserts (they were delivered in less that a week). The results were the same as when I wore my glasses underneath them, but without the bulk. I would recommend the inserts. I also find myself adjusting the glasses up, because they have a tendency to slide down my nose. I made need to roughen up the nose pads for better grip. Overall, I find that these glasses do what I bought them for ... movies and tv watching. I only gave four stars because of the fuzzy corners and somewhat weak audio. Other than that ... pretty impressive. ... show more

  • My best purchase this year
Color: Max
I own, many VR headsets (including the Quest Pro). This is the most comfortable glasses for AR content. It's unbelievably light and with amazing picture quality. I use it daily connected to my Samsung phone with DeX mode. You can be sitting on the chair at work, sofa at home, or lying on bed at your bedroom, the screen is bright enough and can be dim enough for all those situations (I like that the lowest brightness level also apply blue light filter "undocumented feature", very useful for night time). What amazes me is how this thing is not popular already. Way better experience than tablet's folding phones, TVs. The only thing it can't replace is my multi monitor PC (it's limited to one screen). ... show more

  • Great picture, mostly. AR, not so much.
Color: Max
I have been getting into these types of glasses recently as I love the idea of having a personal portable display that can be used pretty much anywhere. These products though are a bit limited at present. For example, they only work with certain devices and even popular devices (like google pixel phones) are not compatible. Definitely still in early days for these products, so I am approaching them as such. Also important to note that these really do not have much if any AR capabilities. There is some software available for specific phones that I think allows locking the display in place so when you turn your head, the image stays fixed. But it requires using their software and it will only work on very specific devices. And even so, the field of view here is relatively low, so the expectation is that any movement will result in parts of the "screen" being cut off. But as a portable display, I think these are pretty nice. If you happen to have the right head shape for them. I do not. So with the default set up and nose pads, I could not get the entire image to visible at one time. Either the top was cut off by the diopter adjustment pieces or the bottom of the image was cut off by the bottom of the frames. After some adjustment, I found that if I removed the included nose bridges entirely, and added some adhesive nose pads (for comfort and to raise the glasses up slightly) I could get most of the image to display at once. These really need more adjustment options. Either more nose bridge sizes, or the ability to adjust the angle of the arms. Because these are absolutely not one size fits all (in terms of being able to see the whole image) and adjustment will probably be needed. Image quality is really nice however. I am nearsighted and the diopter adjustments work extremely well. I can get a really sharp picture with these. However, I think they work well for me because my eyesight in both of my eyes is pretty similar. I imagine for people with larger differences, the diopters could cause issues since the size of each side would end up different from the adjustment, and it could make it uncomfortable or impossible to view properly. The other issue as well is that while I can get the image tack sharp in the center of the frame and towards the top, I find the bottom and especially the bottom corners is noticeably less sharp. There is some minimal glare that can be seen around some of the edges as well. On its own, there is also no way to adjust the sizing beyond that. For me, if the field of view was a little smaller, it would be a lot easier to view the entire image at once without having to get it absolutely perfectly adjusted on my face. The upcoming rokid station streaming android tv box I think will offer that ability, so that will be nice. They are also pretty comfortable too. The arms are springy and dont clamp too hard, the weight is a little much, but not too bad. Biggest issue again is that I had to remove the included nose pads the adhesive ones I am using are not super comfortable. I also need to have the from pushed up against my forehead in order to get the image to fit. And that is where a lot of the internal electronics are located, so they get warm. So far I have not experienced them getting too hot, but I definitely feel like the warmth can build up a bit of sweat over time, and may prove a bit uncomfortable for longer viewing sessions. They have built in speakers as well. They are fine. Nothing great, but not terrible. But the big thing to keep in mind is that these really are not AR glasses. There are some AR type experiences that can be had if you have specifically the correct devices to use these with, but otherwise the only AR thing about these is that they "project" a large virtual screen in front of you. But that screen is not fixed in place and does not actually "exist" in the real world at all. It is fixed to your vision and moves with every move of your head. It is really just a portable display. But that is what I was expecting and looking for, and for that, they are pretty good. and I would recommend them to anyone who is willing to tinker a little bit to get the fit right, and is only really expecting them as a portable personal display, and not looking for any "AR" experiences. ... show more
