This is the third Roku device I’ve bought and the first 4K version. I think it’s a good value for the money, especially since I got it on sale. I attached it to my smart TV because it has apps like Kanopy, which my TV doesn’t offer. It was very easy to set up. Unlike earlier versions, the USB plug that I attached to the TV doesn’t get hot, which is a relief. It works well with my high speed wifi and I got an alert from the TV that it automatically adapts for best resolution. A major benefit this product offers is that when you sign into your Roku account at setup, it automatically adds the apps that you have added to your other device(s) if you have any. Therefore, you don’t have to figure out what you want and waste time looking for them. It also shows your watch and keep watching lists when you click on What to Watch. Another great benefit of Roku devices is that you can buy add-on services like AMC+, MGM+, etc. directly through the Roku channel and they are all billed through your Roku account rather than separate platforms. These can only be watched on a Roku device. They just had a holiday sale in which several of these services were offered at $1.99-2.50 per month for two months, so you can binge a show you like for a great price. Roku also has a section of free shows and movies and a lot of live channels dedicated to various topics. The smart features on some brands of TVs are super slow and often freeze up. I bought this thing for our main, dumb TV after I bought a Roku TV for the patio to watch football. That thing worked so well, I wanted to add that capability to the inside TV. Since we already pay for like ALL the streaming services, it was simple to add and sign into all of our apps and accounts. Our old TV just got a reprieve. After doing some research, we bought this Roku Express 4K+ streaming player and found it works quite well. We have hooked it up to an old Samsung 22" TV (model code LT22B350ND/ZA) which was made in 2013. Received it within a few days of ordering it and it took about 20 minutes to get it working. Ease of use: Follow the included instructions. I plugged it into our power strip rather than the TV USB port since I heard that there were issues related to that (one report of fire, some issues with inadequate power, etc.). Remote takes a little time getting used to - I haven't figured out what all the buttons do and I still haven't figured out how to slave the remote to adjust TV sound. I can imagine that will make my life easier because I won't need to use the TV remote for anything else except for changing the input source and doing some TV fine tuning. Volume adjust/mute buttons are on the side of the remote which was an issue for a few people, but I'm OK with it. From past reviews, sounds like the remote is not very durable but that remains to be seen. Speed: quite responsive - no complaints Appearance: The wireless receiver is quite unobtrusive. This Roku comes with a mounting strip so you can stick it where you want it. I just parked it on the TV base without the strip. Battery life and the rest: remains to be seen but for a gadget that cost less than $40, we're satisfied. So much so that we will get another for our living room TV - it's a few years younger but we expect the Netflix and Prime Video software for it to eventually outdate. One thing that bothers me is that you have to sign up for a Roku account which means giving out your credit card info. We have Roku's on all of our tv's, and this new one is replacing a very old one (but it is still working just fine) because of the price and the 4K streaming. Yes, the picture is really sharp and the response to changing different stations is much quicker so it's really worth the price!!!
