    • Moisture Issues While Sublimating

I purchased this heat press mat to enhance my sublimation transfer process instead of the ironing board that I was using. Initially, it showed promise! However, over time, the pad began to retain moisture, negatively affecting the quality of my sublimation transfers. It performed well, providing a cushioned surface that helped distribute heat evenly during the transfer process. The pad's thickness and density allowed for precise and consistent pressure, ensuring a smooth and professional finish on my sublimated items. I appreciated the pad's size, as it able to accommodate various materials and sizes, allowing me to work on a range of projects. T-shirts made of 100% polyester are what I used most commonly. However, as time went on, I noticed that the pad started retaining moisture. After pressing a few shirts I could feel a muggy sensation on the shirt and emanating from the mat. This became a significant issue, as the moisture hindered the sublimation process and negatively affected the quality of my transfers. The moisture trapped within the pad created a barrier between the sublimation paper and the item being printed, preventing proper ink transfer and resulting in faded or incomplete designs. This not only compromised the appearance of my finished products but also wasted a few t-shirts trying to identify the issue in my process. The mat seems to absorb the moisture from preheating the fabric before sublimating. I live in a humid area and that might be the root cause of this moisture issue. If you're considering purchasing this heat press pad, I would advise caution, especially if you anticipate working on frequent sublimation projects. The issue arises after the mat has been used a few times in a session and is thoroughly warmed up. I have lost too many shirts to keep using these mats. ... show more
