Very straight-edged, looks like a box more than a book. Took a hammer to the edges and softened them up a bit to look more bookish. Spine does look a bit out-of-place on the shelf with no author or publisher icon, if someone was REALLY looking. If you stack with other large books, it's pretty inconspicuous. The box is roomy for random items. Great for hiding, but the box can be easily pried or smashed open.

The packaging could be more discrete as people mentioned, but it wasn't as bad as I imagined. A lot of reviews mentioned the quality of the construction of the book. Like the darkness/age looking of binder, plan to scuff, for more appearance of use. Like to internal safe is all metal. Did added sound deadening padding to inside to zero out noise from with the book is moved. I put locks and, safe keys inside, silence is golden Always thought the pages should have some type of print to the, especially the first three to four pages if you have safe open on deck when someone walks in. This does not look like a book, when placed among real books. The corners are too sharp, and it lacks the definition and gloss of an actual book jacket. The binding came apart the first time I opened it. It's a cool idea, but this thing would draw attention to whatever you'd hide in it. In case you're curious, a Glock 19 will fit inside. So, I gave this 3 stars strictly because the cover design on this book safe is very believable. It fits into the bookshelf and blends well. But, that's where the pros of this product end. The lock itself is cheap plastic and you cannot rescramble the numbers if there is anything inside because it blocks the mechanism from moving. Also, the pages look great, but the very first page you open to is the safe door. This would be much better camoflauge-wise if the safe door was 50-60 pages back from the front cover. Overall, neat novelty item and a place to store small items, but not a reliable safe at all. ... show more
