When this RC plane arrived, the first thing I noticed was how light the box was. I wasn't sure if it was empty. Upon opening, I noticed the RC plane is much smaller than pictured. It is small and made of foam. Obviously, it must be light to be able to fly. But for the price, I was expecting something a bit more substantial. The instructions are very simple and written by a non-English speaking person. You will have to charge the battery in the plane first. There is a small compartment and a connector is tucked away. Once you find the battery in that compartment, you will charge it with the product supplied USB charger. Let it charge for about 60 minutes and then re-connect to the bottom of the plane. The controller will need batteries. These are not included and you must supply. Its important to read the instructions to understand how to operate the plane with the control arms. It is very light, so find an area that is not prone to high winds or rough surfaces. The wheels that come with the plane look very fragile and I'm not sure they can handle driving over a rock. I haven't taken the plane into the air yet, as I am getting acquainted with it, but I will update my review once I have flown it. From my first impression, this is more of a toy (beginner level as stated on box), and is fragile if flown incorrectly or into objects (trees, poles, power lines). The media could not be loaded. I’m an adult and bought this after flying my nephew’s plane. Very impressed with the performance of this small plane. It only weighs about 2-3 ounces, so even the slightest breeze will make it difficult to fly. We’ve learned to fly at dusk. In the video, the plane takes off in easy mode and you can tell when I switch it to advanced mode. It turns a lot faster and reacts quickly to commands. Battery life is good. I also bought the BF109 plane and it functions identical to this one. They are very durable as you will crash a lot in the beginning. ... show more

Lightweight non-flexible foam. More hands on ways for my students to think about flight other than a quadcopter drone. Needs a flat surface for take off that is about 5 meters (8 yards) long. Read the manual as it tells how to operate and what each part is. Downside, the landing gear is difficult to take out once it is on. The plane will not fit back in the box with the gear on. Now it will collect dust between classes. Upside, it has two batteries and a 2nd set of forward landing gear. This will be fun for a first timer. ... show more

Unlike two channel rc planes that allow you to turn left or right only, leaving you to try and control up and down by controlling the speed with the motors only, this one has that third channel that works the stabilizers in the tail. This makes all the difference controlling it. It has a well written manual with lots of pics explaining things for you. It will take off and land flawlessly after a bit of practice. Be prepared to burn through at least two charging cycles with the little 350mAh batteries before you can fly it with confidence. For me, that small learning curve is part of the fun. As with many of these lightweight relatively low end rc planes, it only flies on calm days. Even the slightest breeze will carry your plane away and you'll be trying to fight that with the controls to no avail. That is the nature of the beast when it comes to these super lightweight rc planes. My experience has been that if you want to fly an RC plane on a breezy day you'll have to bump up to a heavier plane with serious motors costing the better part of $500. For around $60, this one is simply fun to fly once you get the hang of it. ... show more

    • Highly enjoyable Foam Plane!
The Omnango EPP Foam powered P51D R/C aircraft is one of the most fun to fly R/C planes I have found. With a slightly more sophisticated control system, it's still easy to fly but also more maneuverable than similar-scaled models. The plane has a three-channel remote control, which differentiates from other planes in its class which normally use a two-channel remote. The first two channels are dedicated to the left and right small propellors (the large front three-bladed propellor is a decoration only and entirely non-functional) while the third channel controls a small servo in the wing-area which adjusts a wire running alongside the port-side of the plane. That wire operates the aileron for up/down maneuverability. The extra maneuverability makes it slightly trickier to learn to fly, and yet the results are improved control and more involvement in the flying process. The plane's distinctive P51D design follows the classic World War II fighter prevalent in the European theater of conflict and adds a sense of excitement to the flying. The underside is outfitted with a two-wheel front landing gear and a rear smaller wheel just below the rudder assembly. It is actually not only possible, but really kind of fun to both take off from the ground as well as be brought in for a landing which you can then take-off once more without having ever touched the plane.
