  • Rat/mice zapper lives up to its name!!! 💯
Size: 4 Pack Style: Rat Trap
My elderly parents started having a mice infestation, it’s been months. Mom called me in despair not knowing what to do since my dad set up traps everywhere to no avail. The mice are so smart they think the mouse traps, the glue traps are their jungle gym or something. Complete fail. I bought these for my parents, they arrived on Saturday. He placed them along the walls and wherever they saw the most droppings on Sunday. And Sunday night started zapping away!! 4 by Monday morning. My dad called me today (Monday) saying the first time in weeks they have not seen mice interrupting their dinner. And thanked me. Felt good to help them and fix the problem. These zappers definitely works and it’s so easy to use and so clean and efficient. Just make sure to switch off before emptying. The first kill my dad forgot to switch off and it zapped his hand and it went numb. He was like I felt the power no wonder those little rodents die instantly! These do such a great job. Thank you so much!! Amazing product. ... show more

  • Mouse massacre in my chicken pens
Size: 4 Pack Style: Rat Trap
I bought these to safely and humanely control rodents in my chicken pens, since other methods are out of the question with a curious flock about. I anchor the units in corners where the chooks can't poke their nosy beaks. Thus far I've only seen mice and therefore cannot speak to the effectiveness against *rats* (who are much smarter as well as larger than mice), but lemme tell you, I am MASSACRING these mice. Good lord, I can't empty the trap fast enough. I've even stopped bothering with bait and am just placing the zappers in line with the mice's usual path along the backs and sides of the pen. Once, in the span of 15 minutes, I killed three mice---zap, switch off, empty, replace, switch back on; zap, switch off, empty, replace, switch back on, and so on. After the zapper has made a kill, it blinks a red indicator light and waits for you to come and empty it. I almost wish it *wouldn't* bother with the light and just keep zapping, because I have a feeling I'd find a pile of tiny corpses in there each morning, but of course that would just fry the element, in addition to being pretty horrific. :P But, again, I use the zapper in an outdoor pen---I imagine folks using it inside the home won't have nearly as much rodent volume and will be able to check the trap more often. Plus, the light *is* super convenient if you don't feel like picking up and inspecting the trap frequently. You can tell at a glance if it has made a zap. (You can also *hear* the thing zapping, with a low buzz---and sometimes smell the metallic charge---if you're around when it happens.) The unit is essentially a long hollow box, about a third of an arm's length, with an electrified metal pad on the floor toward the back of the unit. Baiting and emptying are super easy. You just place bait (dry pet food works well) in the unit and tilt it toward the back---be careful it doesn't fall *out* of the back; the back wall has metal grates, I presume for ventilation so it doesn't get too foul-smelling in there. Be sure to follow the advice in the instructions to *not* use goopy bait in the zapper. I found that any bait with *any* kind of moisture can set off the zapper element, and leave the piece of food vainly sizzling in there until the zapper thinks it's made a kill and shuts off. So even though moist stuff might make for more tantalizing bait, steer clear of peanut butter, cheese, meat, even slightly moist bread---these can all register as "flesh" to the zapper pad. To empty the unit after a kill, simply tilt the unit forward and dump your little rodent corpse into whatever receptacle shall be his resting place. If you use dry bait and you remember to check the unit often, it stays relatively clean in there. I imagine that over time, if you've allowed bait or dead critters to ripen inside, it could get kinda gross after a while, and I'm not sure how best to clean the unit. I recommend keeping things as dry as possible to avoid grossitude. Honestly though, I'm rather surprised that the mice don't seem to "sense" that killing has happened in the units, because they make no effort avoid them. As I mentioned above, I've even stopped placing bait in there and they *still* go inside, bless their little hearts. But again, keep in mind that your experience might be different if you're using the unit inside a home. I was worried that the batteries wouldn't last long, especially with the light blinking all night out in the pen, but considering the volume of kills the units have made, I'd say they've held up quite well. The number of kills asserted by the manufacturer is probably accurate, especially if you're vigilant about checking often so the light isn't blinking forever and draining the charge. Meanwhile, I've slaughtered so many mice I've lost count. EXCELLENT option for mouse control. Whether you're using the zapper in a home or in an unconventional place like a chicken pen, I highly recommend it over snap traps, poison, or those horrible glue traps. It's MUCH easier, MUCH cleaner, MUCH safer, and MUCH more humane than any of those other options, and well worth the price. ... show more

  • They don't work anywhere near as well as advertised
Size: 4 Pack Style: Rat Trap
It didn't deliver results as advertised. In total, all 4 of them average about a 30% kill rate per times visited. The first 6 or 8 times the traps were tripped and showed red blinking light, there were no rats to show for it, ..only empty traps. Then they don't come back to trap as they're intelligent creatures that modify their behavior to fit their latest surroundings. I've even baited the traps without setting them and they still go untouched. months later, one of the 4 traps isn't working and customer support has not been returning my emails. My feeling on the entire experience is that if you're going to charge the big boy prices you have to deliver the big boy merchandise. The price of the 4 back is like, buy 3, get one free but when that free one doesn't work, then it wasn't a deal at all. It was a hustle Much cheaper , mechanical traps have bait ports that unscrew and provide easy access these things are just a dead end with no way to really reach the back end where the action happens where you're going to draw the rat to. I bought mine five or so years ago and quit using them very shortly after I got them because they were terrible. I recently brought them out of storage and decided to give them another try only this time I doubled up the batteries in a series parallel manner so it has twice as many many amps but the same amount of volts. I did that because I noticed the newer models use C cell batteries or D cell batteries. I noticed now that only two of my traps are working. Altogether , to date, they've only killed a handful of rats. Those are some very expensive rats as far as I'm concerned. I'm surprised they are still selling these things and quite frankly they should be ashamed. ... show more
