When I opened the packaging I was impressed by the overall look of the light, it is very slim and looks really nice. After installing the light and downloading the application software on Phone, blue tooth pairing was very easy. I did get a pop-up indicating that their was a firmware update available, downloaded & installed with no problems. The light is very easy to use and extremely flexible, it has three modes that are controlled from the phone applications, manual, automatic and pro. Manual Mode (picture No. 3) on/off functions, color settings and effects all manually selected. Automatic Mode (picture no. 4) is a preset automatic 24 hour cycle of the colors and level of colors. Pro Mode (picture no. 6) allows six time point settings, each time point setting has 4 colors with a slider bar to increase/decrease the percentage of the colors light. The time point settings and color percentages are easy to adjust and save, it also has a 24 hour preview feature that cycles your settings. the preview cycle only takes 24 seconds so you can see how the light will functions based on your settings. Previously I have been purchasing the $50 China cheapies for my aquariums which were only lasting 12 to 18 months and did not perform as stated in their specifications. The Fluval Aquasky LED Light completely fills my 55 Gallon Aquarium with light, comes with a three year warranty, IP67 Certified Water Proof and is U.L. Certified. Open the box, plug it in, download the app and boom...done. Unlike other reviews I read, my light was packaged in a separate shipping box. The 4' fixture fits perfectly on our 75 gal Marineland tank. The housing is streamlined and feels well made. A marked improvement over the plastic LED fixture that came with the tank. Cord is plenty long enough for my setup and the app is very easy to use. Use the preset light patterns or customize your own. LED's are clear and bright. Why other companies sell similar fixtures for twice the price is just crazy. Bluetooth is not new technology and it's extremely cheap. LED's, not new technology and again, super cheap. With that in mind, I still think $120.00 for a 4' fixture is high, but as I mentioned, the quality is there and most other name brands are charging double. It simply works exactly how it should. I bought this light to replace a broken one. My other light was more than double the price of the new one. Even though it’s half price, it’s light out put is similar. The Bluetooth feature is a game changer. It has so many features. I am pleased with my purchase!!

    • Great LED light with lots of features

A few points. It's very slim because it has white LED's and RGB LED's, so there's no need to have a large fixture to cover the color spectrum. The app works perfectly for me *once you take some time to understand it* which some reviewers don't seem to have done. It's very easy, on the "auto" setting, so setup a sunrise, daytime, sunset, and night time schedule with custom colors and intensity. I can't imagine an easier way to setup an LED light strip. My prior setup required punching buttons on the strip itself, which lost all settings every time power was lost. This strip keeps everything in memory, and so easy to program from the app. Next issue is longevity, which I cannot speak to. I did take the time to seal the end caps and glass-to-body with silicone to prevent any corrosion problems. We'll see what happens. But otherwise, this thing works as advertised and I'm extremely happy. I'll update with any pros/cons. ... show more

This is a two in one review , One on how the light it was delivered and two reviewing the light itself. 1- whoever shipped this item from Amazon did a very bad job not bothering to package the light ! Light delivered to my porch all banged up , torn open on side with the adapter almost partially hanging from the side it almost fell out of the box when picked up ! This was an open invitation for package thieves to come and just grab it from door step ! This is not acceptable for an item that’s considered one of the expensive ones out there ! 2- Now to the light itself which is Amazing overall , pretty slim solid metal body wasn’t expecting to be this small which actually works great for my 55 gall top fin tank , was able to cut out pieces of the top hood that came with tank and let it sit on the Fluval led and still use the lights that came with the lid, I opted to swap them out with marineland led blue night lights and the space worked well with this light slim design little real estate used which is good , if your tank is 47 to 48 inch long this will sit right on top of the tank’s rim which means the expanding brackets are practically useless as shown in pictures , unless you get the shorter smaller led then I can see the brackets working better for you , but that didn’t bother me as I wanted light from edge to edge and this fits the bill .. Ok the led is super bright the white colors to say the least , love I am able to adjust the brightness however I like , timer is a big plus haven’t played with it as am still setting up my tank ( another review will follow when all is up and running ) . This light comes with one row of Leds wish it came with two rows instead of one for this price point. Connecting the light to the app was pretty easy I’ve used my iPhone/s to download the app. You can download the app on multiple devices to control the light however one device can be connected to the light via Bluetooth for it to function ,like I have two phones with the app installed on them , if I want i to use phone1 to control the light then The Bluetooth on phone2 has to be disabled or disconnect and vice versa ... The app itself could use little upgrades somewhat looks like the actual physical remote that came with the older models but it’s a touch screen control. Would like to see an option where I can slide my finger on a much bigger range of color for a more customizable look ! Overall the light does what it’s meant for it to do , Room for the improvement and maybe a lower price point . Still a happy camper with the light would recommend BUT AMAZON YOU NEED TO PACKAGE THIS LIGHT PERIOD. Thanks ... show more
