Life got a little lazier and the plants are happier with this timer! The setup and instructions were easy to follow and I had it working in a matter of minutes. The ability to skip cycles has worked flawlessly and the timer kicks in when scheduled. The app is easy to use and simple, scheduling is straight forward. I have no issues with the valve opening, it is quiet and efficient and overall quality seems good. One note, there is a nice screen filter on the unit for the inlet of water. If you have one of the frost free spigots that have the pin on the inside (for those who live in cold weather you know), you will need to buy a short hose extension or remove the screen filter. ... show more

    • Very Convenient for Patio Garden
I bought this timer to run my drip irrigation for a Patio vegetable Garden. Once it is set up, the timer works well. Hose bib valve is easy to concect to hose bib and works as it should. The app is very user friendly has a lot of features to customize the way you want to water. One small issue I see is how you verify that you have properly connected the wifi gateway to your local network. The app has 2 different places to check this but only one seems to work properly to verify connection. In the app page for your gateway device, click on"Device Network" and it will show the name of your local network and signal strength - if you are connected properly. BUT, there is another line on the lower part of that same app page that is called "Check Device Network" - it has 3 line of info regarding connection but does not seem to work properly. I suspect this is an app issue since my device is clearly connected to my local network and the "Device Network" section confirms this. ... show more

    • Great WiFi valve but not a smart valve.
This valve and hub were easy to install and work well on my drip irrigation system. I’m able to set a schedule, specify length of watering time and time of day with the app. I can also suspend watering when it rains. All of the control can be done remotely with the app communicating over WiFi with the hub that controls the valve. Please realize that, even with the RainPoint “Smart Soil Moisture Meter”, this hub & valve are not smart and cannot automatically adjust length of time watering or time of day. ... show more

    • Great value for the money
In the RainPoint app, you will be able to control all your RainPoint devices. After selecting this valve controller device, you will see its battery percentage and its running state. Below that, you will see information about the week. The information consists of the weather forecast (temperature and rain). Maybe the weather forecast can be improved to also show the percentage of rain for that day. If you set a timer schedule, a water icon will be displayed at the bottom of the days that were configured. If the timer is running, you will see the time left. You have 2 options for running the timer, manually and scheduled. Manual options allow selections from 1 minute to 24 hrs. There is the ability to delay watering. You can only delay for 1, 2, or 3 days. The icon to select this option can be improved to better represent this option. The schedule allows you to pick from normal or Cycle&Soak. For the normal schedule, you pick the start time, duration, and days to water. For the Cycle&Soak, you pick the start and end times, and days to water. Then you select the amount of time it will water (cycle) and the amount of time that it stop to allow the water to soak in. It also support Alexa or Google Assistant integration. I tried using the Google Assistant, and it seemed to work ok. The outdoor valve controller is pretty compact. The brass connector at the top will help keep it from getting fused to your hose bib. The front only consists of a blue status light and a button to manually turn on/off the water. To install the 3 AAA batteries, you just turn the front piece a couple of degrees to remove the front panel. You should hold onto this piece as it is attached to the body by a small coiled wire. Once the front is off, you can then remove the battery door cover. No tools are required, which is a plus. The device feels solid and well made. The WiFi module is pretty small and compact, but I would like to see it be a little shorter on the bottom, as it is a tight fit next to an existing plug.     • Both the device and the APP are excellent
I am very happy with this device. The set up was straight forward. I downloaded the Rainpoint app from the app store to my phone. I put my phone, the faucet timer, and the Wifi hub/gateway close together and not far from the Wifi router. I followed the instruction inside the package. The APP had no problem finding the Wifi hub and the timer. Once both devices were added, it's fairly simple to add the timer to the hub. I did a complete dry run of the system before I attached the timer to an actual water faucet. The system worked as expected. No problem. One thing that impressed me is how well the APP was designed. The functionalities, such as regular schedule, rain delay, etc. are well thought out. The user interface for accessing these functions are also quite intuitive.
