This machine is fairly easy to use. That said, the little touch controls have a slate learning curve. For example, the only buttons that you actually interact with are the "delay start", and "menu/cancel". To cycle through the various settings you just tap the "menu/cancel" button. So far I have used this for room temperature blending to create cashew milk. I really liked the outcome of the milk. No debris or anything like that after blending, just creamy smooth fluid. I did use the included recipe book as a guide, but just know that the recipe book has some typos. I use the measuring portions as guidelines. For any of the nuts, I typically will soak those for a few hours before blending, because that's a process my wife has used in the past and worked well. This machine doesn't require that, but in the recipe it does indicate that if you are soaking, then there should be a reduction in ingredients. The quality of the device seems very high. The base gets a little warm during blending, but that's to be expected. The blending speed is very good. Each sending on the device comes with a default time that the machine will run, so there's no guesswork on adjusting time. If you want to stop the blending mid-process, you simply tap the "menu/cancel" button. I like that the lid has a double rubber gasket on it, which will help prevent any leaking while blending. I find that it is easy to clean. You cannot submerge it in water because the motor underneath will get damaged, but you can put water in the vessel and clean it out. I have used the self clean mode both times I used it with a little bit of soap, and then I run a secondary cycle with just rinse water, then wipe out the inside. The device has a beautiful, simplistic design, and I actually like the matte white plastic look, which should hold up to fingerprints and stuff better than a glossy finish.     • Convenient way to make nut/plant milks

If you're looking to make your own plant-based milks, you generally follow this basic process: soak the nut/soy overnight; blend it with water; optionally cook (soy) and strain it. I was looking for a nut milk maker to see if it would save me time on soy milk specifically. I also make walnut milk and it really isn't that bad without a specialized machine (blend in vitamix, strain through nut milk bag and done) but if you've ever made soy milk you know that it involves the additional step of cooking it (and watching over it) as well as clean up of the pot which can be tough. I usually had to reserve about an hour of active time to make a batch of soy milk plus take up space in the kitchen, etc. This nut milk maker (and other similar models) are basically a blender and heating element in one, with timers built in. You basically add your soy (I still soaked mine overnight) and add water to the measuring line and let it go. Initially it heats up the water while occasionally blending and then when the water hits 212F it does the full blend until it's done - probably takes about 25 min total, but the best part is that I don't have to sit there and watch it! I'd say it's not quite as good as making it manually, but it's about 10% of the effort. I chose not to strain it and while it was a bit grainier than I'm used to, it was pretty good. Next time I might try straining it after it it's cooled. Clean up is not bad, although since the jar does not detach you can't submerge the unit. It does have a "self-clean" which basically tells you to add water and then it heats it up and runs the blender to agitate the gunk off. I probably wouldn't leave this out too long after using it before running the self-clean cycle. The only downside I'd say is that the button sound is gratingly loud. I can live with the blender noise since it's expected but the loud beep after every setting change is annoying. All in all, if you're wanting soy milk during the week and don't have time to devote the hour to doing it by hand, I would heartily recommend this unit. You can get more expensive units and some of them even have straining functionality but if you're wanting to dip your toes in the water this is very affordable (and seems to have coupons often).
