  • Elegant indoor ventless fireplace, cranks out heat
Style: Thermostat Control
We purchased this Procom ventless stove fireplace to replace our old propane wall mount unit in our bathroom (about 150 sq feet). Overall we're very happy with this fireplace - it's easy to use, produces a lot of heat, and looks great. A few notable items on the backend of the install - Ensure you or your installer read the manual completely prior to install and comply with all local ordinances and safety regulation - Assembly is very easy, where you simply attach the feet to the unit with the included screws, remove the front grate temporarily by removing the two mounting screws, install the replica logs, and replace the grate - The logs are very light - I was expecting them to be heavy ceramic (like a coffee mug), however they're much lighter. I nearly discarded one with the separate box they came in because I didn't see it wrapped and taped to the inside. All the logs arrived intact - The fuel hookup for the stove is parallel with the floor. This was a slight issue for me, as the unit I was replacing had a hookup that was perpendicular. For propane, the unit uses the standard 3/8" flare fitting - Ensure your installer uses flare fittings and either brass or black pipe (not galvanized) and both thread tape (should be yellow thread tape, not the standard white) and thread sealant to ensure a proper seal/no leaks - When first firing up the unit, the regulator knob on the front of the unit needs to be held down in the "pilot" setting for 30-60 seconds to purge the gas line of air - When using the unit, it's recommended to either have a vent fan running in the room or a dehumidifier, as depending on how long you run it, it will produce some moisture from the combustion of gas The unit heats the space it's in within minutes and the automatic thermostat does its job and shuts off once the room reaches temperature. The unit seems well-built, and we haven't had to contact support. Should we do so in the future, I'll be sure to update this review. ... show more

  • Perfection!
Style: Thermostat Control
I’m so happy that I made this purchase for our cabin - it’s perfect. Actually is a bit too powerful for our small cabin but I put the setting at 1 (out of 5) and it turns off and back on automatically. Will get our cabin to 70 degrees (from 30) in about 10 minutes. Well made and with the flame gives the ambiance I was looking for. Why mess with wood? This is cleaner and heats MUCH faster! Perfection! ... show more

  • Pilot light turns off sometimes before the flames are even produced.
Style: Thermostat Control
Looks nice and produces enough heat (if you have a fan to move it around). The problem, is that it won't stay lit. I will get off of my couch to relight it 10 times within 3 minutes. No joke. Sometimes, I will light the pilot light and it shuts off instantly, before I even have time to turn the gas knob. On the bright side, you will generate enough heat from physical activity to where you won't even need it to work correctly. I hate it, and my wife just told me that she wants me to throw it in the trash. Not something you want to spend hundreds of dollars on. I also have a Mr. Heater 30,000 btu that has never shut off. It doesn't look as nice, but it keeps you warm. ... show more

  • Overall great heater/fireplace
Style: Thermostat Control
ProCom really surprised me with this one. I was planning on using this little fireplace as a supplemental heat source, but have been using it instead as our primary, bypassing using our oil furnace altogether. It's currently 35 degrees outside and this fireplace, mounted in the center room downstairs, is keeping the temperature at a steady 68-70 degrees. It is currently set at the #2 setting; we haven't used it above that setting yet. Keep in mind this is only a 25,000btu fireplace and our house isn't massive. In a larger house I'd expect different results. With this fireplace burning and a ceiling fan on low for circulation, this ProCom unit is a great choice for anyone looking for supplemental heat, or even primary heating in smaller areas. Installation was simple, it looks good, works well. It has also been quite fuel efficient. I'm hoping ProCom has a higher BTU output series of fireplaces. I'd like to give them my business again and get something in the 50,000btu range to truly ensure a warm house on even the coldest of Pennsylvania winter days. I'm already planning to add another of this same unit to my workshop. ... show more

  • Remote not working, dent on cabinet
Style: Remote Control
Received a dented unit, and the remote doesn't work. Too late to return it, I didn't unpack until the Propane certified plumber final showed up to install the Propane shut off valve in the living room. I then discovered the dent. Additionally, the fireplace is working, but the remote doesn't. I tried several times. Moving the remote unit selector, on the front of the unit from off to on, ignites the Propane, also moving it to the off remote side, fire goes out. The remote unit doesn't "learn" so zero remote control. ... show more

  • Great Heat
Style: Remote Control
Easy set up and gets the room warm very quick. The receiver and control valve panel could use more mount support. When installing AA batteries, the panel moves inward and feels soft as you push in batteries and install cover plate. If power goes off, we are ready now and will stay warm.
