Description

Are you the type of musician who hears the beauty in a dissonant chord? Does feedback sound like violins to your ear? The Turbo RAT distortion pedal is for the guitarist who would rather create their own sound than emulate someone else's. Tear the system down and build it back up yourself! The Turbo RAT is the most intense pedal in the RAT family. For those brave enough to harness its power, it provides a palette of distortion unequaled by any other pedal. This is why it has been a main ingredient in the post punk/indie rock movement of the past twenty years. Boasting more than twice the maximum output of the original RAT, the Turbo RAT is hard-clipping while the mid-range frequencies are slightly scooped. With a less compressed signal, it also has a brighter tone, so you'll have no trouble being heard through the mix. Since this pedal was designed around the musical distortion that made the RAT famous, it retains these qualities without sounding harsh. The Turbo RAT features the legendary RAT Filter control. Turn it to the right to roll off brittle high- end frequencies. Having trouble cutting through the mix? Turn the Filter down and allow the natural brightness of your instrument to shine through. The Distortion and Volume controls dial in the perfect amount of gain while keeping the level consistent with your clean tone. While there's no mistaking the legendary RAT tone when the pedal is on, true bypass switching guarantees that no extra noise will creep into your signal when it's turned off.

  • Super fantastic
I wonder how I got along all those years without this pedal. I absolutely LOVE IT. Will not play without it. Basically 2 pedals with 3 settings each all in one unit. Each pedal can be used alone, or use one to boost the other. Lots of great combinations, all of them sound good. Very solid construction & made in USA. Also, this is the only Pro Co Rat to offer the 'clean boost' which has become my favorite: I use it by itself and to boost other effects. Can go from clean boost, to kind of saucy to downright raunchy. Brightens up a strat (or any single coil) and makes a Gibson or anything with humbuckers sound however you want, only LOUDER & BETTER. Makes my newer, solid state amp (i.e. cheaper) sound like a boutique tube amp or vintage marshall. Can play around a bit with the settings and have the volume knob on your guitar control the amount of distortion you get. If you have a spot on your pedalboard and have never played around with a Pro Co Rat before, I would highly recommend this pedal. It will be the first and last you ever need! ... show more

  • Outstanding pedal for Solos
Outstanding pedal for Solos!! I found the best sound is achieved by routing the distortions into this pedal and then out to the amp, it feels like an amp-head with the added feedback dynamic, even if you already have power tubes putting out the feedback for you this will add more sensibility to your bends, sustain, vibrato and harmonics, and you can dial in the perfect setting with the knobs. Even without an amp's power tubes maxed out this pedal will give you this cranked tube amp feel. just perfect engineering from ProCo, now if only we could get a filtered power supply, the RPS1 I bought adds a hum to the signal, so Im going to use an output from my Vodoo Power 2 plus. ... show more

  • Might Be All the Rat You Need!
This is a Marshall stack in a road-proof steel box. All PCD sounds (Clean, Dirty, Turbo, and Vintage) are excellent. Cascaded sounds are incredible: the only limit is your imagination. Note: Stand alone PCR boxes' sounds do sound better then their PCD counterparts. PCD "Channel A" is left, "Channel B" is right: s/b vica versa. You'll need 1 foot (right angle) 1/4" cables to run your PCD in a pedal chain. Doesn't come with +9V adapter. ... show more

  • Where's my free T-Shirt?
Style: DIRTY RAT
Basically the You Dirty Rat is a soft-clipping Rat 2. The germanium diodes soften up the tone and feel a tad. It does get pretty gritty still when you crank up the distortion. My only complaint is being disappointed by the 'Free T-Shirt' offer that came with the pedal. I mailed in the form but the shirt never came. That kind of makes the overall experience a let down as the shirt costs an Andrew Jackson on it's own and looks Rat cool. ... show more

  • Awesome Sound... Made in the USA!
Style: DIRTY RAT
This pedal sounds great and is extremely versatile. From mild distortion to full blown distorfuzz! It never sounds harsh, or phartty, or icepicky, etc. I love it through my Fender '65 Twin Reverb® Amplifier, Black tube amp; I love it through my ZT Lunchbox 200-watt 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier SS amp. If you are considering the Pro Co RAT2 Distortion Pedal , just spend the extra ten or so bucks and get this one instead. I think this one sounds better (a subjective observation), but this one is made in the USA. It is very high quality. The enclosure seems a little bit dated, compared to the boutique pedals available today. But it feels like it will outlast every BOSS pedal there. If you plan to use a power supply, be warned that it takes a 9-Volt tip positive 1/8" mini plug (like a mono headphone plug) power supply, like the Pro Co RPS-1 RAT Battery Eliminator Power Supply , instead of the more common tip-negative coaxial plug (found on BOSS pedals, Boss PSA-120S Power Adapter , etc). But the maximum current draw is only 2 mA, so 9V battery should last a long time! Buy it... Rock it! ... show more

  • A versatile little dirt box with great tone
Style: DIRTY RAT
Although ProCo promotes this for its 90's grunge sound, it's much more than that. Dial down the Distortion knob, dial Filter up to 2 o'clock and you get Jeff Beck and John Scofield tones from it. Turn Distortion up to 4 o'clock for thick early Sabbath, and as you dial back on Filter, the tone gets sharper for 80's rock tones. It has been fun seeing how many signatures tones it can produce. Sounds great with my Fender and Marshall amps, using SC or HB pickups. My trusty Monte Allums-modded Blues Driver sounds awful next to this. If you're looking for a versatile dirt box that sounds great and is affordable, you can't go wrong with this one. ... show more

  • Erreur d'amazone sur ma commande
Style: DIRTY RAT
... show more
