  • great tone, great quality!

I use this pedal on my music shows. Works as expected, giving that great rock distortion sound I was looking for.

  • The most important pedal for a metal or blues player
Style: TS9
This pedal....so much has been said about it. Legendary...is the word often used. Using this term is extremely accurate. It's THE sound. It's basically turning a tube amp into a higher quality, better sounding Boss Metal zone. Many call it or use it as a "Boost" pedal. That isn't quite accurate. When people say "boost" most think about a boost in volume. It boosts the mid frequency and Gain. Put this pedal in the front(not the FX loop) of the amp with your Amp's distortion channel gain set to around 12-1 o' clock. Set this pedal to 0 Drive, Tone...wherever u want and Volume up past 12 o clock somewhere and you have literal awesomeness. I have a Marshall amp and one of the most irritating things about Marshall's distortion tone is the "woody" sounding bass. You cannot get rid of it unless you dial the bass to 0 and then your guitar sounds like it's coming from some old transistor radio. Use a tube screamer in conjunction with a Marshall amps distortion produces some of the best sounds ever and you will want to play the damn guitar all day! They say it "tightens" the sound. It does far more than this. It increases the mids. It increases the High's and the Marshall's "woody" bass is altered to usable bass. It increases the gain which means you can have your amp's gain level lower and still get some amazing sounds. It's also great on it's own. You need an overdrive just on the threshold of clipping that sounds magical...look no further! This is IT! Amazing Legendary pedal hand's down! ... show more

  • Staple of the pedal board
Style: TS9
I've got two of these. One for a slight boost and one to overdrive. They are great. Just about every overdive/distortion out there is an extraction of this circuit. I used to clone these back in the early 80's before boutique was everywhere. I you don't have one get one. It is very versatile in combination with other pedals and works well with single coils and humbuckers with tube amps. ... show more

  • Get it. You'll love it
Style: TS9
This little puppy can howl! I bought this to spice up my guitar sound and add some new tones. I play mainly metal, rock, and blues. I had this plugged into my Fender LT25 Amp (Highly recommend), and a Wah pedal. It's excellent if you want to learn solos, rhythm, riffs, or anything you like. It came very well packaged, on time, and in pristine condition. It is very well worth the money, so just buy it and annoy the whole neighborhood! ... show more

  • It could be that "If I had one pedal" solution
Style: TS9
I have a bunch of pedals and multi-effects processors that model classic pedals, one of those being the Tube Screamer. I have an amp with overdrive, and inputting a a Boss CS-3 compression sustainer and DA 2 adaptive distortion pedal (notable upgrade from the venerable DS-1). Between the two of these pedals, I could sort of make a Tube Screamer. But what the hell, I wanted to just try it outright. It is one of the most fun pedals out there, and I really feel that if you have the most basic (good) tube amp and this pedal, you could go a long way. One big downside is that there is no level control in terms of overall gain in the loop. Obviously, when you throw on an effect, you don't want to blow the house down, but that is what this does unless you tweak its processing characteristics. I am still trying to play with that. Most other pedals have some sort of output level control. I don't care because I am having so much fun with this. Play notes, power chords or whatever and listen to the "motor run" on a good amp. It just runs and runs.. ... show more

  • The Best Distortion
Style: TS9
I was previously using a Fender Santa Ana, but I could never get the tone or sound I wanted. I love the sound of tube overdrive and I thought the Fender was pretty good. The tube screamer on the other hand was so much better! The TS9 is not as warm and creamy as the T808, but it has such a full sound. There isn't a lot of excess noise from the distortion and even when the distortion level is maxed out, it still produces a clear sound, in the sense that there isn't a lot of air static noise you get from some distortion pedals. Pros: -heavy-duty metal construction -very responsive soft touch switch -great distortion -low noise Cons: -Lack of tone adjustment. A 3 band EQ would be better ... show more
