  • Very Happy With This Saw
Style: Fence with Riving Knife
I have had the Powermatic 10-Inch table saw (64B) for four years now - in which time I have run a lot of material through it. It has been a very good saw for me and I am glad that I purchased it. I have found it to be reliable and accurate with a lot of power. It is also very solid for being on the smaller side. It seems like Powermatic continues to stock repair parts for their units, which is something that is/was important to me (although I haven't needed any as of yet). My biggest complaint is that the base of the saw is a bit hard to close off for dust collection. But I'm not sure it would be fair to take off a star for that because this is a contractor style saw. If I wanted better dust collection I should have gotten a closed in saw (but then it wouldn't fit down the stairs to my basement). I would recommend this saw as a professional feeling saw that does not break the budget or require 3-phase power. ... show more

  • Used to own an amazing professional quality Dewalt table saw (no longer made)
Style: Fence with Riving Knife
Fabulous!! I’m a 65 year old female & have been doing heavy woodworking since I graduated from college. Used to own an amazing professional quality Dewalt table saw (no longer made), but donated it to VFW 5 yrs ago when I figured I was done making cabinets. Then we bought a new home & after getting high quotes for some non-custom cabinets, my husband agreed it was time to find a new table saw. I read all reviews & selected the Powermatic for several reasons. Added the 52” right side table. Most complaints are geared toward assembly & lack of detailed instructions, but if you’re mechanically inclined- it’s no problem. Took us about 3 hours to completely assemble, including rolling base (highly recommended). Converted it to 220 (also highly recommended because of lower drag on startup). Note- some hardware is hidden in long extension arms- so do a thorough search before you call technical support. Well balanced & smooth. Fence is accurate & now- I’m ready to make all the new cabinets for a fraction of the cost! ... show more

  • Has a few issues.
Style: Fence with Riving Knife
Good saw but it does blow fuses. The legs on the extension are too short to reach the floor. Had to put a 2x4 under it.

  • Best saw for the money out there!
Style: Fence with Riving Knife
After months of serious research on Amazon and other sites I chose the 64B, and man am I happy I did. I considered all the usual suspects, the Grizzly, Shop Fox, Delta, Baileigh, Jet, you name it. At the end, I found out that Powermatic has a few sales during the year at around 15% off, so I waited and got it for what I think is a very good price. During my research I called Powermatic and found out that this saw is pretty much the same saw, motor and trunions as the PM1000 with legs instead of a cabinet. The top is actually a little larger, so it has a great large work surface, and with the 50" rip (mine is actually 52") it gives me a great base to start with. By adding an outfeed table I have a work area large enough to handle about anything. Here are the main reasons I chose the 64b: 1. Power - It says it has a 13/4 HP motor, but it is a very large motor, and so far it has not had any problem with anything I have thrown at it. It cuts plywood and softwood like it's not even there. I was a bit worried about hardwood, but this things cuts it like butter. I am an amatuer who does a lot of small projects and some cabinet work so I am not using this for heavy work loads, but I think it could handle it. It is very smooth and quiet, and very precise. 2. Accuracy - Mine was dead on right ot of the box, dead square and right on the money. I had to make a few tweaks to the fence, but nothing major and it holds true like a rock. 3. Quality - I looked at as many saws as I could in person before I made the purchase because you have to see them to really judge the quality. To me, the other saw just don't compare. The handles, the table top, the trunnions, the fence, they are all really top notchon my 64b. Even against the Jet saws, which are now made by the same company I noticed a difference and in my opinion the PM are just better. 4. Features - Even though my 64b is the bottom of the line for PM it still has the features like a very nice heavy miter gage, locking pin for the arbor which really makes changing blades a snap, built in dust collection hose under the blade that actually works, a proven time tested fence system and easy off safety items like the riving knife and splitter. 5. Warranty - Only a few saws give you 5 years, and this is one of them. As well built as it is I don't think I will need it, but it is good to know it's there if I do. Overall, for around $1500 (what I paid after the sale discount) I will stack it up against any saw out there. You might notice I didn't list Saw Stop as one I considered. I don't mean to ruffle any feathers, but I just don't believe the stats they throw out. I did some research and there are a lot of other saws in my shop that are much more dangerous - my circular saw, my 14" band saw, my chain saw, my sawsall, my compound miter saw and even my router mounted to a table. All of these are just as likely to cause an accident as my table saw. Of course there can be an accident any time with any of these saws, and I hope I never have one, and I don't disute that their system works. I am just a little put off by their over dramatic hard sell on the risk. I have been working with saws 40 years, and I know people who have cut their fingers off, But they did it with their miter saw or circular saw. Maybe when there is a blade stop on all of these saws it will be worth the extra investment. For now, I would rather get a better saw for less money while I can still get one. ... show more
