  • A Perfect Portable Induction Cooktop
I needed a portable induction cooktop for the house as I had a stovetop fire. I wanted something portable as I am traveling and want to heat water, make soft boiled eggs, and warm up bone broth. Not only does it look modern and is well-designed, it's quiet, lightweight, and easy to use. I love the various temperature settings (It boils water very quickly!) and easy surface clean up. This is a wonderful product, well-priced, and worth every penny. Thank you! ... show more

  • GO INDUCTION!!!!
I was curious about induction cooking and purchased this unit. I am sold on induction burners. Heat up time is fast and even better is the temperature control. Now this is a 110AC countertop unit so there are electrical limits. It will not get hot enough to pop corn, but that is the only cooking limitation I have experienced. The ability to set a temperature without adjusting is a great feature of induction cooking. It does require iron/steel cookware. I have tried a steel plate with aluminum cookware, however, the gains of induction are greatly diminished. If you want to go induction go with iron/steel cookware. The chance of my next range having an induction cook top is very high. It has become my favorite way to heat a cast iron skillet. It is by far the fastest way to boil a pot of water. Because of the control and efficiency I am cooking more with rice and beans. Temperature Control Rating - Although induction is great at temperature control, the temperature control interface and increments on this item is lacking. The temperature is adjusted by a touch pad are all of the controls (timer, lock, and display). The touch pad is a pain. There needs to be a knob or thumb wheel for the temperature control. This is design so the the top is an uninterrupted smooth surface which is great for cleaning. Just put a know/thumb wheel on a side. A second downside to the temperature control on this device is the increments which are set at 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The increment needs to be 10 degrees; 20 is too much. Heat Output Rating - Outside of not enough heat to pop corn, but has had not other heat shortcomings. Safety Features Rating - There is a timer which can be used to help prevent burning. If you remove the cookware it produces a tone to let you know that there is no iron/steel detected. After a while with no cookware it shuts down. If you want to try induction cooking without spending money on a range this is a great low cost way to see if you will like cooking with induction. I grew up cooking gas and later many years with coil and glass top electric. I am sold on induction. Induction is very efficient so your electrical consumption is lower. ... show more

  • Works great, controls are annoying
First, for induction cooking, this works great. It's fast to boil water, the kettle and pot handles stay cool, all the things you want in an induction cook top hot plate are there. Why do I downgrade it? The controls. It has a red light that flashes annoyingly just letting you know it's plugged in. I tried unplugging it when I don't use it, but that became another little hassle. And I figured out that I have to punch the touch controls more than a dozen times to get to the setting to boil water quickly. You first have to hit the red flashing light to make it solid. Then you have to hit the button next to it for some sort of "function" option. Then it displays 600. 600 what? I don't know, and I don't care. I'd prefer "LOW" or "MED" or some such. You have to hit the "up" button to get the temperature up to 1800 units, which requires a touch for 700, 800, 900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, and then 1800. Most of the time a few of your touches of the screen won't be recognized so you have to tap it repeatedly. Tap tap tap tap are we there yet? Tap tap tap. What makes 1800 the hottest temperature? And if you're like me and you put butter or oil in your pan and, once heated, you like to swirl it to coat the bottom of the pan, you will see and hear all sorts of error codes and beeps the instant you lift an edge of the pan off the hot plate, even when an edge of the pan is still in contact with the hot plate surface. Is that so very necessary? Can't they wait the few seconds it takes to swirl your butter or oil in the pan before telling you your pan isn't completely in contact with the hot plate? There's a feature that will turn the unit off if there's no compatible pan on top. It certainly lets you know that in no time flat. Obviously, someone who cooks didn't invent the controls on this thing. Or perhaps some really Type A personality put it together and it really works for them. For me, I'd like a round knob that clicks when you turn it on and you turn the knob to the setting you want, and it won't go berserk if you swirl the butter in the pan for a few seconds. Danger Will Robinson!! Put the pan down now!! Extra point: they say you can test if your pots and pans will work with induction by seeing if a magnet will stick to the bottom of the pan. I'm here to tell you I have a pot with no magnet sticking power that works just fine. Try your pan first before giving up on it. This unit will tell you in an instant if it won't work. NOTE: I originally rated this 3 stars, but the company reached out to me with my concerns and has tried to fix my situation. Since the machine actually works fine, I decided to upgrade my response due to them trying so hard to make me happy. Good customer service is worth noting. They said they'd keep my suggestions in mind for the future. I hope so. ... show more

  • Great for HOTPOT!!!
I found these to be great for making homemade hotpot. They work with my existing pans so i didn't need to purchase any new pans as well which standard hotpots cookers try to do. The touch buttons work so well and the two settings between power and temperature has been extremely useful.
