  • Works well for the price but needs filter reinforcements.
I saw something similar at Lowe’s and checked Amazon to find this similar unit for about 30% less. I am amazed at how well it works but you to have add a double bag of strainer filter cloth tied by a strong, thick rubber band plus a fish tank sponge filter inserted inside the most inner filter bag. Very fine DE powder will still get through but heavier objects like sand, concrete grit, rocks, leaves, zip ties and other plastic pieces will easily get picked up. Pictured is the difference after three days with the right side having been vacuumed. The results were real and no resetting of the debris. Maybe one day the designers will improve upon the filter side to trap DE powder. Anyway, the vac is still a very convenient contraption that lets me fill up and vacuum at the same time. ... show more

  • Works well for a small pool.
It works well but the handle should be a little longer. Easy to assemble and use. Cleanup is breeze. Could hook it to my 12ft pool skimmer with provided adapter but that is overkill. Maybe provide a clamp of some sort to help with handling the hose.

  • Intex Handheld Rechargeable Vacuum vs Mini Jet Vacuum
This review is to contrast the Mini Jet Vac & Intex Handheld Rechargeable Vacuum. I have a 14' above ground pool. Last summer I purchased a Intex Handheld Rechargeable Vacuum. When I first bought the vac it worked just ok. It comes with a mesh basket and a sock to catch the sand. 1) If you use just the mesh basket you will think your pool is clean until a the sand has time to settle. You'll then have to go back over the pool with the sock over the basket to pick up the sand. You can't use the sock to pick up everything because the suction is not high enough with the sock on the basket. 2) This summer the vacuum failed to keep a charge and top will not stay on with the sock over the basket so the vacuum is unusable after roughly 3 months of use total (this summer and last). Which brings me to the Mini Jet Vacuum- This product absolutely works. 1) I used this vac and completed the same amount of work as the Intex, but in just one passing. It picked up everything and the mesh bag is fine enough that sand will not pass through it. 2) Warning - The handle that the vac comes with is very flimsy. If you a small kids pool a couple feet deep it will most likely work, but if you have a deeper pool this handle will break. HOWEVER, there is an adapter in the box. Just buy a new handle that fits the adapter. 3) Hint- I zip tied my hose to the handle so I wouldn't get tied up in the hose. The vac will want to float up (at least it does with the small handle). Be careful about pressing down too hard or you will break the handle (the small handle it comes with. ... show more

  • Not worth the money. Broke within 1 week
There was no instructions with this, butbI figured it out. When using, the parts fall off easily, so you have to constantly reattach it. It is also hard to keep it below the water because it is all buoyant material and it takes some effort to keep it under to suck up debris. It worked okay to clean the bottom until the cheap pole snapped. Now im left with about 1 foot of pole to do the job with. Not what I expected from something that cost as much as it did. Id expect that from a 15 dollar item. Item is basic. Attach hose, hose pushes water thru and into the net, trapping debris. This is my second attempt at buying something I can keep my small pool clean with. The spa wand was also a bust. I paid over 80 for that, and it required so much of my energy to use, by the time I was done I was too tired to use the pool. Finally I bit the bullet and bought a sand filter and rigged it to suction the bottom. Works so much more effectively and didnt cost much more than the two vacuums I bought combined. I also have the added bonus of a really clean filtered pool. ... show more

  • Pretty terrible
Putting it together was fairly easy. The problems come when trying to use it. It's super lightweight so it wants to float, rather than sink to the bottom. A lot of effort is required to push it along the bottom to vacuum things up. The other problem is that the water hose doesn't want to stay attached, so you're constantly having to reattach it underwater. If you don't hold it underwater then you're going to get sprayed with water. I'll be looking for something else for next summer. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Effective Pool Water Vacuum
We have a zero depth entry baby pool at our neighborhood pool. We were looking for a way to clean up the leaves, dirt and sand, and other debris from the bottom of it. We have a pool vacuum robot for our big pool, but when we tried it in the baby pool, it first tried to leave via the zero depth entry ramp, then tried to climb the (shallow) walls and ended up flipped upside down. I was skeptical that this device would work, since it doesn't have a motor or connect to the skimmer or pump. I was wrong! This device works surprisingly well. It draws its suction power from the garden hose and collects the debris in the mesh bag. (PRO TIP: Wait until the bag dries before emptying it. It's harder to get the wet debris out than dry debris.) Use the link to the video to learn how to assemble it. There's an extra piece you won't need unless you use a different stick (which we will do if I can find a substitute – the pole that is provided is a bit flimsy). We had a different pool vacuum (ran off a battery, didn't connect to a hose) a few years ago, and it worked just okay. I'd give that one three stars. This one gets 5 stars for how well it works. (Assembly is honestly the hardest part — and I haven't figured out how to get the connector piece off the hose, but the hose still works even with the piece on it, so I haven't spent too much time on figuring that out.) Our pool depth ranges from 0" at the zero depth entry to 2 feet at its deepest. We sometimes use a broom to sweep the debris to a deeper spot so the mesh part can stay under water for better suction. And move slowly so the debris doesn't get stirred up as you vacuum. It will even pick up dirt on the bottom of the pool if you go slowly. We generally can clean the whole pool in 10 minutes. For under $50, this is a GREAT solution to cleaning a small pool. ... show more

  • Doesn't Work
I've tried everything and I couldn't get the vacuum to work. It's cute, and cheap, and I like the concept but useless.
