  • Works well for the price but needs filter reinforcements.
I saw something similar at Lowe’s and checked Amazon to find this similar unit for about 30% less. I am amazed at how well it works but you to have add a double bag of strainer filter cloth tied by a strong, thick rubber band plus a fish tank sponge filter inserted inside the most inner filter bag. Very fine DE powder will still get through but heavier objects like sand, concrete grit, rocks, leaves, zip ties and other plastic pieces will easily get picked up. Pictured is the difference after three days with the right side having been vacuumed. The results were real and no resetting of the debris. Maybe one day the designers will improve upon the filter side to trap DE powder. Anyway, the vac is still a very convenient contraption that lets me fill up and vacuum at the same time. ... show more

  • Almost got 5 stars
I was not expecting this thing to work as well as it did. I love it. If you go slow, this thing picks up everything very easily. I have fine, sandy soil and was afraid the mesh bag wouldn't trap the smallest particles but it worked beautifully. I so badly wanted to give this 5 stars but the handle was atroucous and way too short. Anyone taller than 5' will be hunching over this thing. I'm 5' 6" and my back was sore by time I was finished from being bent over it. On top of that, the handle it's weak as heck, too thin to get a decent grip, and very weak/bendable. I know you don't want to spend the extra $$ but do yourself a favor and get yoursef a pole to go with this if you don't already have one for your skimmer. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Effective Pool Water Vacuum
We have a zero depth entry baby pool at our neighborhood pool. We were looking for a way to clean up the leaves, dirt and sand, and other debris from the bottom of it. We have a pool vacuum robot for our big pool, but when we tried it in the baby pool, it first tried to leave via the zero depth entry ramp, then tried to climb the (shallow) walls and ended up flipped upside down. I was skeptical that this device would work, since it doesn't have a motor or connect to the skimmer or pump. I was wrong! This device works surprisingly well. It draws its suction power from the garden hose and collects the debris in the mesh bag. (PRO TIP: Wait until the bag dries before emptying it. It's harder to get the wet debris out than dry debris.) Use the link to the video to learn how to assemble it. There's an extra piece you won't need unless you use a different stick (which we will do if I can find a substitute – the pole that is provided is a bit flimsy). We had a different pool vacuum (ran off a battery, didn't connect to a hose) a few years ago, and it worked just okay. I'd give that one three stars. This one gets 5 stars for how well it works. (Assembly is honestly the hardest part — and I haven't figured out how to get the connector piece off the hose, but the hose still works even with the piece on it, so I haven't spent too much time on figuring that out.) Our pool depth ranges from 0" at the zero depth entry to 2 feet at its deepest. We sometimes use a broom to sweep the debris to a deeper spot so the mesh part can stay under water for better suction. And move slowly so the debris doesn't get stirred up as you vacuum. It will even pick up dirt on the bottom of the pool if you go slowly. We generally can clean the whole pool in 10 minutes. For under $50, this is a GREAT solution to cleaning a small pool. ... show more

  • Not worth the money. Broke within 1 week
There was no instructions with this, butbI figured it out. When using, the parts fall off easily, so you have to constantly reattach it. It is also hard to keep it below the water because it is all buoyant material and it takes some effort to keep it under to suck up debris. It worked okay to clean the bottom until the cheap pole snapped. Now im left with about 1 foot of pole to do the job with. Not what I expected from something that cost as much as it did. Id expect that from a 15 dollar item. Item is basic. Attach hose, hose pushes water thru and into the net, trapping debris. This is my second attempt at buying something I can keep my small pool clean with. The spa wand was also a bust. I paid over 80 for that, and it required so much of my energy to use, by the time I was done I was too tired to use the pool. Finally I bit the bullet and bought a sand filter and rigged it to suction the bottom. Works so much more effectively and didnt cost much more than the two vacuums I bought combined. I also have the added bonus of a really clean filtered pool. ... show more

  • Amazing little cheap vacuum perfect for smaller pools
I have the intex easy up 6ft by 20inches For $25 bucks and to keep the pool clean this little thing works amazing! My niece stuck an outside broom in the pool and there was so much sand and dirt at the bottom it was driving me crazy! It came with all the pieces and even an extra piece for a different handle plus easy instructions(will add a photo because some people claim it didn’t come with them) Cleaned the bottom of the pool within 5 minutes, you could see all the stuff sucking up inside of the bag. I love this thing!! Only thing I would say is the bag it comes with you may want to put a rubber band around it to stay because it’s a drawstring that will prob come loose after a while or you could even use a stocking! Def worth my money ... show more

  • I am impressed with this vacuum!
I was skeptical at first but it works like a charm. I have a large inflatable pool and needed something to keep the dirt and dog hair out. I thought I was going to have to drain the pool and scrub it but not now. This vacuum has a brush on the bottom and cleaned the vinyl while removing all dirt and debris. Great price. I am 69 years old and it took me about three minutes to assemble. I immediately tested it and am amazed at how clean my pool is now. Highly recommend! ... show more
