This item makes a great gift for anyone who owns multiple Hue lights. Obviously the app or a voice assistant are more than capable of doing the job, having a movable wall switch for guests to use is invaluable. On top of that, after I got used to how I programed the buttons (i.e. what lights are triggered and what colors of lights to use), I found myself using the switch almost exclusively). While the price is crazy high, you won't think twice about it after purchasing and setting up. I had some bad luck trying to connect to my hub at first, but now that its connected my troubles are gone. I know not many users have that problem, but I will at least note here that I had to do a factory reset in order to find it in my Hue app ... show more

It’s nice to have a physical switch even with the google assistant and the hue app I still like to just push a button if I want to. Looks good on the wall adhesive backing works good. You may need to update your hue app . Dims brightens on and off ,perfect . Battery on my older version switch lasted almost 2 years. Not bad. ... show more

I've owned Hue products for about 10 years now, I think. Always innovative, but often expensive. I owned several of the old version of these switches and needed another one so I decided to go with the V2 one. I like it. Unlike the old one, where I would have to instruct guests to press the power button repeatedly to change scenes/brightness levels, now I can tell them the power button turns it on or off and the Hue button on the bottom changes scenes. It makes a little more sense to people, I think. You can, of course, customize the power and Hue buttons. I love that the Hue button can be pressed up to five times for different scenes. Our family printer is in my office. I have Hue lights in the room with the 4 button controller on my desk. However, if it's dark and Wifey needs to print or scan she has to fumble to find where the button is to turn the lights on. She never expressed outright frustration, however the needle on the Sarcasm Meter was pegged, so clearly Something Had To Be Done before I found a standing lamp in my office pointing at the printer. Found this. I am annoyed that it will only control ONE thing: an individual bulb, a group, or the whole room. It only has two triggers: short push, or long push. Several short pushes will cycle through other options, such as brightness or color, but you can't make it control other lights individually, only the single bulb/group/room you chose. It would have been cool if I could have had it cycle through other lights, but I digress. The intent was for Wifey to easily see what she was doing without tripping over my briefcase or stack of random crap. I set it up for the single bulb on my ceiling fan that points at the printer. That way if she comes in while I'm working in the dark she can turn it in without blinding me and having me hiss like Bart Simpson after he signed away his soul to Lisa. I then stuck the small button mount to the front of the printer. Tested again, works perfectly. I called her in to show her the new lighting option she had. ("Where the **** do you even FIND this crap??") Had her turn it on and off a couple of times. ("Huh. That's kinda cool. Thanks babe!") Phew, Wifey is happy, sarcasm levels have dropped to normal, and I don't have to worry about being blinded or, worse, being washed out on a Zoom call. ... show more

I’m the biggest fan of Hue in my family. I don’t mind pulling out my phone or using Alexa to adjust the lights in one of our rooms…the rest of my family on the other hand could care less. These dimmer switches are brilliant because if someone else in the household turns the hardwired switch off manually the whole system goes down. Now, anyone in the house can power the whole room on/off, dim the lights, and cycle through different schemes without needing the app. Docking 1-star because the mounting faceplate is a non-standard size. It’s about a 1/4” bigger than my standard plates…looks slightly off, wish they could’ve matched standard sizes. Not sure about the long term 3M adhesive holding up, but it sure was simple to place on the wall. Looks like there are mounting holes if you really want to do it right. Curious how long the battery will end up lasting, but the process of setting up and assigning to a room was super simple in the Hue app. Must have for Hue owners in a multi-person household. ... show more

We have hue bulbs in almost 80% of our lights and rooms in the house. We manage it through routines and Alexa. Adding this was a great addition as my wife isn’t a huge fan of using Alexa. I highly recommend this accessory to anyone who is going heavy with hue bulbs in multiple rooms.

    • Great option along side smart switches for non smart lights

I have a hue smart switch I use for the garage because we don't have a lightbulb connector anywhere in there. We have a ceiling tube light as well as the garage door opener light. With the extra outlet on the ceiling, I plugged a large and bright light into it using the smart plug. It works with voice or it can work with this hue switch. I put the switch underneath the opener control and it looks great and unified. The only aspect I wish it was better at is the actual button sticking to the plate stronger. Sometimes if I blindly press it I accidentally force it to come off the plate and it drops to the floor. It's small enough to lose easily of you're not careful. I ended up putting some double sided tape on the plate and now it works much better without the fear of it falling off. Beware if you have kids. It may be easy for it to be gone the next time you need it. Out of all the switches hue offers, this one is the most minimal in style. It's perfect for non smart lights because you don't need any scenes or specific lighting - all you need is an on/off. ... show more
