  • Great Cooking but Plastic Smell
This cooks great and makes everything taste amazing but the first few weeks it did have a weird plastic smell that eventually went away. I have used this to cook anything and everything, including eggs, chicken, bacon, veggies and even heating up bread. Not one item I’ve cooked has come out tasting bad. I will say I wish I got a bigger basket or even a double basket to make multiple items at once. ... show more

  • A big step backward from earlier model
We purchased an older model air fryer by Phillips several years ago. I think it was called an Avance. It was superior in many ways to this model. First, they changed the way you can remove the basket. If, like us, you open the air fryer and toss the contents, now you have to open the air fryer, push a button, and move a safety switch before you can do that. All the while, valuable heat is lost from the unit. I appreciate safety options more than most people but this design was not adequately tested and is not really safe. Second, when you remove the basket, the whole assembly drops out of the air fryer unit. The older model had the basket in a drawer that pulled out on a slide. The slide held the drawer in place. Now, when you pull the basket out, there's nothing that holds the drawer in place so the entire [very hot] assembly drops on your counter. Now we're buying a silicone mat to protect our counter. Alert: you need a silicone mat that's about 12" square and those aren't easy to find. Our last big problem is that there's no preheat for the temperature. Phillips seems to want you to use all of their presets but we don't agree with the time or the temperature. Which is also a problem. Adding to the fact that the unit won't preheat, you have to guess at how much time to add for cooking. Disclosure: we use our air fryer for a lot of reheating and particularly like the fact that we can reheat take out to remove excess oil. We just miss the old features that made this unit so good and can't see a way to rate it much higher. ... show more

  • Overrated and returning
I heard so much about how Phillips air fryer is deemed as one of the best air fryers, so I thought I would upgrade from my Cosori. I am very disappointed in this air fryer. The buttons are very confusing and not easy to use. The recipes in the app are too elaborate. I'm just looking to air fry the basics - which are not covered. I'm not looking to get gourmet with the air fryer! The food also takes LONGER than what I was making in my previous Cosori. Returning this and going back to the Cosori (not the Duo Blaze though - was not a fan of that one too). ... show more

  • Kitchen products should not look like the next gaming console.
I don't know what idiot in their design team decided that this thing should look like a gaming console when it's meant to cook food. The product is beautiful but it is also an impractical beauty and unrealistic in the kitchen environment. The black reflective plastic surfaces are eventually going to end up becoming easily scratched and ugly, the only way you can clean this thing and avoid scratches is to always use a microfiber cloth. The Wi-Fi feature to be completely stupid and useless because it did nothing more than allow you to look up recipes in their recipe book and then transfer the settings to cook that recipe to the unit I'm talking about something that would take you less than a few seconds to do yourself that's all it was I felt that it is a waste of design. ... show more
