I keep my pool open year round and sometimes during heavy rains I would wind up with frogs in my pool. I would come home after working the midnight shift and grab my leaf net and try to save all the frogs that were still alive. This is my 2nd time buying these as they start to look bad after a few years but are well worth the investment. Since I have started using these I have had Zero dead frogs in my pool. You do need something to weight them down, I usually just purchase a small bag of small polished rocks to put in the pockets that set on the deck and that works great. I can’t praise this thing enough! I bought it because I was tired of being upset about all of the poor unfortunate tiny frogs that were constantly drowning in our pool. I bought this two months ago and Since then I’ve only found two dead in the pool trap which is a huge improvement from finding a few a week. I see spiders and all kinds of other bugs using it too. To simplify, I just used the Amazon bubble wrap for flotation and a rock for the anchor. Note the flaps will sink downwards resulting in an underwater enclosure. This can cause some critters to panic and get stuck. Instead, just cut out the corners as seen in the photo and this provides an escape and access to the float. It is mad hot and dry here in AZ and most wild animals come to the pool for water. So far no casualties. I recommend getting 2 as stuck critters will tend to run around the perimeter and this increases their chances of a happy escape. Give yourself a pat for having a cruelty-free pool : ) ... show more

Constructed with high quality fabric. Easy to setup. Includes a hand pump to blow up the floating pad but takes awhile to blow up. I had to take out my portable inflator to get it done. Don't need to fully inflate though so it sits flatter on the water.

Saves many frogs...before getting, we had a frog every other day drown in the pool but haven't seen one in the past month. It's easy to use...just inflate, add weight (we used rocks) to the top pocket. Good quality, too.

Wish I would of had this two days ago to prevent this tragedy :( If I can save one little creature it is worth it! The hand pump is pretty chintzy. I just use my mouth to blow it up.
