You can also mount opposite corners of all the corners at an angle sort of resembling a twist. Waterproof sails have a top side and a bottom side. To maximize its water resistance the seams on the edges of the sail shd be facing the ground so that you can see the fold/hem when looking up at the sail. It is important to have the seam facing downward to avoid water collecting at the seam. If water can sit and collect in the seam, it will drip through. It does provide shade however I wish it blocked more sun. The double layer webbing they boast is not accurate. It's single layer so felt misled and a bit disappointed about that. It's not water proof as the picture claimed. The material stretches and sags. The D-rings are already rusting. I bought my own hardware (turnbuckles, carabiners (sp)), and used braided cable instead of the rope they provided. I also would have preferred the rectangular shape. No water proofing tape on the seams as they claim. I ordered beige and what I got was some sort of very odd cross between pink and white. Also, the measurements given do not completely cover or provide shade for that amount of ground area. For example, 16x16 will not give you 16x16 feet of shaded area; this is because of the curved inward sides. The stated measurements are for corner to corner, as they do state. But it doesnt hurt to be fully aware of this. Great stuff. Worth the money. Mounted it quickly with the 4 included brackets: 2 on the house using concrete screws, and 2 on the fence posts using stainless steel screws. Then used D rings on the house side, then ratchet ties on the fence side. Crank and done. Easy quick release too for hurricanes, whatever. The color is cool, it does a good job blocking sun.     • Make sure your seam is right on install!

This is a well made shade sail. D rings are strong. Has weather proofing at the seam. One major tip for installing - make sure the seam that is on top overlaps as it descends. So the rain doesn’t run into a backstop. I installed backwards and it leaked. That may be other folks problems with a leaking seam. Get some turnbuckles. This rectangular, waterproof, sun shade is exactly what we were looking for to cover our 10x20 cedar deck. The difference in temperature is dramatic walking under it after being out in the yard - and that's without a fan. Once i get a fan out there, I suspect it will be comfortable no matter how hot it gets this summer. As for the color? Wow. The picture attached was taken at noon on a cloudless 90 degree day, and the color is really intense. I'm thinking I should have gone with a white/off-white, and may end up moving this one to make a cover for the extra car and replacing the red with something less red . . . but i will definitely be buying another and recommending this to my friends. I just bought this patio shade 10' x 15' red, the product looks as shows on advertisement. Color looks great and does cover a lot of the sun light, today was the perfect day to try it out since we have small shower rain and it protect us from it. Material looks like great quality. The only think I would like to see from this product would be a different sizes and more variety of colors, unfortunately for my project I would it prefer to use a 12' x 15' I have to see how color does after time. Does its job well so far (been a week of rain here and at the angle we put it at no rain has come through so far), but there is a hideous (to me) seam running down the middle of it. In fact there's a second seem on the side right next to the edge seem. This detracts from the appearance and disappointed me (not visible in ad images so I didnt expect it). So I strongly prefer this company's non-waterproof shades for looks (our first purchase) but this one does work best for waterproofing (looks aside). ... show more
