The Panasonic LUMIX S1 digital single lens mirrorless (DSLM) camera incorporates a 24. 2 Megapixel high resolution 35mm full-frame MOS sensor. The LUMIX S1 utilizes the new l-mount standard, which boasts a well-balanced, large inner diameter and compact dimensions for a flange focus to realize optimum size and performance as a digital mirrorless camera system. The LUMIX S1 yields unprecedented image quality with high resolution, rich gradation and superior color reproduction. A high-speed, high-precision AF system based on advanced control technology over the lens, The sensor, and the new Venus engine enable the user to capture the precise moment in the finest detail. The LUMIX S1 Series also boasts industry-leading video recording performance (4K 60P/50P), intuitive control, a rugged design for heavy field use, durability, and expandability. This is a spectacular camera. From super clean high ISO video files to outstanding JPG/RAW photos, Panasonic has put their best achievements in a single affordable package. I'm pretty convinced that the IBIS system has been sent back from the future - it's simply amazing. I am a Canon 5D IV and Fuji X-H1/X-T3 user so I have no loyalty to any one brand...whoever makes imaging equipment that pushes the technology forward, that's where my money goes. I would get rid of my other cameras in favor of the S1, but this thing is not light/small/portable and will attract attention in certain settings. That's where the Fuji system wins...the X-H1 is actually one of the best cameras on the market for photo and video btw (despite some of the unwarranted negative reviews that Fuji "missed" on this model - NOT true). I would never get rid of my X-H1. The Canon still has the best skin tones and let's face it - there's no substitute for phase-detection autofocus when your subject is moving fast. I didn't get the new Panny S 24-105 F/4 lens with the S1, because F/4 is not very exciting and I already have a couple of fast Canon L lenses already. I picked up the MC-21 Sigma adapter and my Canon lenses work perfectly with the S1 and the IBIS keeps the video rock steady. The Canon 35mm 1.4 L II is particularly good with the S1 for video and photos. Just so happy with this combo right now. It's such a great time to be a photographer/videographer. The only drawbacks I'm noticing is that though the battery life is good, I had to buy a couple of spares and they are not cheap. Also, the weight of the system must be considered before you grab the S1 and head out of the house. The XQD cards will also have you eating mac n' cheese and drinking instant soup out of a foam cup for a few weeks if you want to fill that second card slot. The media could not be loaded. The S1 is definitely an upgrade from the GH5s. There may be more recording features in the GH5s but the full-frame, superb quality, better low light capability, and full VLog makes it all worth it. I upgraded and have not looked back. Lots of m o i r e in pictures!!! It is a no brainer! Chunky batteries, very heavy design. I got dust on the sensor almost every day that have to be removed, otherwise you will see faded areas in your pictures. (This is going automatically by default with Canon or Nikon.) I have lots of moire both in photo and in video mode. This camera obviously doesn't have any anti aliasing filter. I can't film or capture any images with this camera off from books because of the raster dots, or any brick walls. I use to have this problem with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera ten years ago!!! On the top of this, we bought this as our main video camera for documentary films, but it doesn't offer any 4K DCI option, which is really annoying. Also, with the MC21 adapter continuous autofocus is disabled, which makes this camera a real deal-breaker. (Also, with native Panasonic lens the autofocus is more sluggish than with Canon or with Sony ecosystem.) Just beware of these when you would purchase this camera. The battery is below average. I got only 120 shots with the original one. Why has S1/S1R/S1H the worst autofocus in the market? How I could make a lawsuit against Panasonic? ... show more

I upgraded from a G9 to this camera to deal with low light issues, and its been a dream to use. If you're familiar with Lumix systems I don't see how you would not be happy with this camera. Though I have to get used to the weight of the camera, it does feel better in my hand and the in-body stabilization is just next level. ... show more

The camera is a brick but I really liked it until I tested the zoom lens that comes with it, very soft on the edges especially on closeups. Never saw this in the reviews so maybe this was just a bad apple.
