    • We like it better than our groups Solo fire pit
We take it camping in cold weather and we love it. One of our camping group members bought a solo fire pit and while it works great to burn wood to ash, and its grill is more secure, it doesn't put out a lot of radiant heat. You basically have to stand directly over the solo fire pit to get warm but good luck warming you feet. This firepit is much better for staying warm, all the wood we have used in it burns to ash and it takes up less room than the solo during storage. It does take longer to set up and is not made of stainless steel so it wont last as long but for the warmth and price, we really cant complain. my ONLY gripe is that unless the pit in on perfectly flat ground, the grill cover isn't safe to use. When the fire pit is used in camping environments the ground is often not flat and this causes the shape to deform slightly. Enough that 1 or 2 of the 4 tabs that hold the grill grate up, will not make contact with the grate and it may tilt and dump your food on the ground or into the fire. We do most of our cooking with a gas grill though so its not a huge problem for us but it is annoying. I have not landed on a method I'm happy with for fixing this flaw. We used bailing wire once but then had to untie it to add more wood. Making holes and installing bolts longer than the tabs would work but then might scratch it up and make it more cumbersome to store. I'd be happier if the grate was larger than the pit and could just sit on top. For the price and what we get out of it, we are very happy. With a better design for the grill grate, this would be a no brainer but as it is, it may not be for everyone. ... show more

I was looking for a temporary inexpensive fire pit. This appeared to fit the bill. It does a fine job. Was easy to assemble. My comments are (1) the walls are very thin, (2) the way in which the walls connect is such that they can still slide a little, making the pit not overly sturdy, and (3) the pit doesn't fit into the carry bag. ... show more

Also, the listing says wood or charcoal charcoal, but the Instructions say wood only, no charcoal. Would charcoal or wood pellets need an adapter or grate for burning? Otherwise the product looks fine, though I have not used it yet.

Easy to assemble and disassemble. Very portable if you want to take camping or out for an evening on a beach or lake. Size permits a max of 4 people using it at once when cooking hot dogs or marshmallows on skewer cooking poles.
