I received these about a week ago and put off getting them out due to other reviews and the price. I leave food out for strays and today they flies were bad around the dish, which is by the front door. The directions are on each bag, so it's pretty easy to know what to do. It took me maybe 5 minutes to get it prepped and on a hook (used metal wire instead of the string provided). The package says it takes about 24-48 hours to activate the bag, but within 5 hours there were already several flies in the water and several more flying around trying to get out. There were also several other little flies and fly-like bugs in there. I have a bag hung about 5 feet from the front door, and so far I smell nothing, not even when I'm up touching the bag. Possibly in another day or two it'll stink after thr bag is fully activated. I was skeptical that these would work well, but I took a chance. I actually bought them because a neighbor was having trouble with flies biting their dog's ears raw. I didn't want to spend too much and reviews were mixed. So far, I am impressed. Unless something changes, I would definitely order again. Don't let the price point or other reviews scare you away from ordering these. I followed directions, right down to having the bag in sunlight . If you're having an outdoor fly problem and need help, get you some! ... show more

These did not attract near the amount of other brands. The smell is also almost non existent. I thought I would save some money buying these and hanging them next to our chicken coup. How hard can it be to catch flies when there are millions around, apparently pretty hard. After three weeks, this trap has about 50 flies where the other brand would be full, about a thousand flies. Going back to the other brand. This is a waste of money ... show more

I don't have a bad fly problem because I bag and seal all of my trash, before I started using this death bag, I would see 5-10 flies congregating around the trash cans on a hot day. The problem is that my next-door neighbor doesn't bag and seal all their trash. Since our side yards are adjacent and the trash cans are about 5 feet apart the bag attracts all of their flies. I had hundreds if not a thousand flies in a week stuck in that bag, it is really disgusting to look at and on top of that I see at least 30-50 flies buzzing around the bag. It really smells like horrible roadkill. Do not put this close to a door or window particularly if it is upstream. Fortunately my trash cans are at the corner of the yard way from the house and windows and doors. I think the small is strong enough that it also attracts flies from within my immediate vicinity- probably another 2-4 houses. I can see this being useful in isolated spots but for use in a typical suburban neighborhood you will attract way too many flies. However if you don't bag and seal your trash and you have a bad fly problem this is perfect for you. I can't really downgrade it because it works so well, I'm just not going to use them anymore. These work great - they catch LOTS of flies, but be prepared for the smell!!! I wasn’t! They smell like you’re standing beside a fresh cow patty. I guess that’s what draws the flies in. Yuck!

It is not as effective as the Raid brand. For its price it’s ok. It doesn’t attract the flies like major brands. I had purchased raid in the past but couldn’t find it nearby and was desperate. Took about a week to get some of the flies where raid worked in a day!

Quick and easy to put up...just needs a string and hot water. Great for keeping flies at bay. The beginning of the summer was terrible. Put one of these up and there were significantly less flies in the garage. Great additio. For parties or food outside...just keep them down wind as the odor is bad.
