This is an excellent product for it's extremely low price. It's compact, and it does what I need it to do (read CDs and DVDs). I've not yet tried to burn a CD or DVD (I have no real need for that). I've used it on my Ubuntu Linux desktop, and my Airbook M2 running Sequoia. The Airbook is a bit weird in that the drive won't identify itself and respond to the Airbook unless it has media in the drive. Contrary to the tips, for me it only worked on the Airbook WITHOUT the external power supply. The order is in the Origibelie notes, but they say to connect the external power (with media in the drive) and then connect it to the Airbook. My Airbook only runs it a 1x speed when ripping a CD; Linux used 4X or 8X (hard to be sure). ... show more

This arrived very carefully packaged, and I was impressed right away by the presentation — the DVD burner itself came in a soft velvet bag, and everything listed was included. The device feels solid and well-built, not flimsy like some other external drives I’ve tried. The DVD player works as expected, and I appreciate how sleek and compact it is.
