  • Works great!
Style: 6 in 1
I bought this to hook up to my laptop to watch DVD's. It's so simple to hook up. It even came with a carrying case. It's really compact, barely bigger than a DVD. I like the cord tucked inside the case so theres nothing to keep track of. The picture and sound are great. It's a bargain for the price. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Expand Your Computer Easily!
Style: 8 in 1 with Carrying Case
I bought this item without any formal expertise and am completely pleased. It easily connected to my computer and worked perfectly immediately - no issues. I can now connect a mouse, USB drives, camera cards, printers, and anything else. The CD/DVD drive works well. The cabling is short so you must plan how to set up your system. I bought the case because I need to travel with it and appreciate that it is sized precisely to the drive, not adding unnecessary bulk. It is also sturdy and protective. I recommend this device to anyone needing more capabilities that their system offers. ... show more

  • Classic DVD drive.
Style: 8 in 1
I never thought I’d buy a DVD player in 2024, but here we are. Why? Because my laptop decided it was too modern for a CD/DVD drive, and my medical records came on a disk. Yes, my entire health history is now playable on what feels like ancient technology. Enter this DVD player: the unsung hero of my quest for answers. Setup was hilariously simple, plug it into the TV, pop in the disk, and voilà, my cholesterol levels in 1080p! It read the disk instantly, no awkward buffering or judgment about my snack choices. Once the serious stuff was over, I tested it with some old DVDs for nostalgia. Turns out, it handles Shrek as effortlessly as it handled my MRI scans. A true multitasker! If you need a reliable, affordable device to access important files or relive the glory days of physical media, look no further. Highly recommend, especially if your medical history needs a better supporting cast. ... show more

  • Worked great for MacAir: plug and play
Style: 2 in 1
Plugged the USB-C connection into my M1 (2021) MacAir and immediate was able to download data from an MRI CD and to play a DVD. It came with a USB-A to USB-C adaptor and a soft pouch to store the drive, adaptor, and additional cable (not needed for the MacAir). Perfect all around!

  • Great addition to my laptop
Style: 6 in 1
I have always bought laptops with a CD drive. But this external drive was great. I had windows 10 that was automatically upgraded to Windows 11. It was definitely compatible. I did not have to do anything but plug in and go. The external drive was automatically recognized by my device. This is definitely worth the price. And lastly, if you are familiar with using an internal DVD drive, the external one is no different. It works just the same. Just make sure you convert the content based on the item you are trying to burn, CD or DVD. ... show more

  • drive basically won't function on USB port power. [UPDATED]
Style: 8 in 1
drive basically won't function on USB port power. i have another small usb optical drive that runs on usb port power, so i don't see why this one cannot. this drive does NOT come with a power supply, and they don't tell you before you buy it that you'll need one. waste of money. terrible idea for a laptop drive. [UPDATED] So. It shouldn't BE this way, and it's a weird mystery, but here goes. What does NOT WORK (as a simple DVD READER - the reason i purchased it) What does NOT work: plugging the drive into the new Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro's FRONT USB C ports using the drive's USB C plug, will light up the drive, but when you put a DVD into the drive, it will try to read, then the light goes out and it 'dies'. What DOES WORK: Plugging THIS drive into ANY port of an otherwise un-populated NON-POWERED 7 port Yottamaster USB 3.2 HUB where the USB hub is plugged into the SAME front USB C port(s) on a Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro. This works perfectly effortlessly quickly for PLAYING back a DVD using VLC. [that's 98% of the reason i bough the drive. I also I also tried plugging the USB C part of this drive's cord into a USB C to USB A adapter and plugging it into the NON-powered USB 3.2 7 port hub in the SAME front ports and it DOES WORK. So i don't know if the weirdness of NOT being able to plug the drive's USB C connector DIRECTLY into the Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro's FRONT USB C ports is a problem in the Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro, or if it's a problem in the DRIVE. Somebody is doing something NON-STANDARD. It's very disappointing to NOT be able to get it to work correctly while plugged DIRECTLY into the Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro's front USB C ports. I was hoping to get optical drive functionality AND get a few extra ports, AND tidy of the wiring. But this puts me in a spot where i am forced to use a USB HUB. I have NOT tested any of the other functions of this drive such as the other ports. I'd love a provable explanation for where the real issue lies. ... show more

  • Great find!
Style: 6 in 1
I've only always used CD drives that connect to a power source.. meaning large and cumbersome with all of the cords and cables. This is fantastic! The usb cable tucks right into the back of the drive. It is plug and play so no software needed to use. It comes with a nice carry case too.

  • Nice and weighty.
Style: All in 1
The player is heavy and feels durable. The instructions for set up are almost non-existent however. After some rummaging about and many an unplugging, I discovered quite by accident, that it needs to have a disc in it to show up on your drives. It doesn't bring up any tabs or panels to choose region. You must go into the properties for the device to set your countries region. It allows 5 changes. The burner works well, if a bit louder than a built-in CD/DVD player would be. It also states that a USB extension cable is not recommended. The actual cable for this is only 6 inches long. It is shown in the images and is what they state you must use for connection to your computer/laptop. I will advise after I get an extension cable. It also states you should plug this in on the back panel of your PC. Given the short cable that is something of a joke. I purchased this to use and 6 inches don't cut it. (snicker) It however should work very well for many laptops. I haven't tested any of the other SD ports or USB ports. It is made by Mitshita so is a quality product, if online reviews are to be believed. ... show more
