  • Awesome little stove!
Love the compactness of this stove (and the case designed to fit over an isobutane canister with the stove snugly protected). Build quality is terrific, burner cranks out a lot of heat at full throttle yet dials back to a low flame when needed for great simmer control. There's the slightest bit of "wobble" at the top (pot support) due to the fold-away design. It's mostly noticeable with a taller pot like the Stanley 24oz stainless cook kit. It's not enough to make me avoid using the stove, but it's noticeable if you're picky. Also, remember this isn't a regulated stove. If I were going to be using in really cold weather, I'd probably choose a regulated stove. Final note: If you also get an Optimus wind screen, it fits perfectly with this stove--and actually makes for a stable, usable flame in a significant breeze. Well worth the investment! ... show more

  • Excellent heat, super small and light
This is an excellent backpacking stove - tiny, very well made and machined, a nice large burner that spreads out heat. The arms on top are big enough to stabilize 2-person cookware. The foldable burner costs a tiny bit of stability, but my previous stove from a different manufacturer had a fixed burner and it bent, so that was worse. Heat output is excellent. I do use a windscreen sometimes, which helps but isn’t necessary. Overall, a really superb, totally reliable part of my backpacking kit. ... show more

  • Compact and Reliable
This one was bought as a gift. I have owned the folding Optimus Crux for six years and used it during a thru hike on the Appalachian Trail. The stove is so compact when folded that you have to be careful you don't misplace it. It puts out a lot of heat and will pretty much match or beat any stove when boiling water. It will also simmer which a lot of canister stoves will not let you do. I have used it with various size pots up to 4 quarts, but would recommend getting a set of stabilizer legs that attach to the fuel cannister when using larger pots. ... show more

  • This thing is quiet
Love how small this folds up. Definitely worth the price. Cannot be used with a coleman propane tank unless you get the adapter. Works well, but not as stable as i would like. I've seen other reviews on how the arms/ pot holders get charred and stuck in place and after a few uses am already seeing that. I typically use a 750ml pot which works well when full, but with a 1100ml pot or larger, when filled with water/ food I'm wary of the strength of the arms. Overall I like it. ... show more

  • Folding / Lay flat feature is very nice
It’s a bit heavy for ultra light status, but I like how it folds flat & stores under fuel canister . Nice little pouch, good solid flame, quick boil times. Seems very well made. Been an Optimus fan for a while, especially the multi fuel stoves for winter outings. I like it!

  • Packable.........
This is the most packable burner around. It has a stuff sack included which the stove fits in and then is attached to the bottom of the fuel canister. It makes one nice light weight , compact and complete unit. The burners head offers a nice wide flame for complete heating eliminating any hot spots.

  • Fantastic little stove!
The stove is very compact and works incredibly well. The craftsmanship or quality and feel are excellent. The minimal fold out legs work great and offer plenty of stable support. Its impressive how fast the little thing can heat up a cup of water.

  • Very good gas stove
As far as I know its the only folding gas stove (the head is folding) so it is very compact. Used it several times already (boiling water) with a titanium pot - works great
